As you might have guessed, the Time Team machine is grinding into action and gathering pace, which can only mean one thing... our first dig of 2021 is almost upon us!

We dreamed that this moment might happen and thanks to all our Patrons it is finally becoming a reality. But before we begin the victory laps, there's the small matter of some digging to do, and – as ever – we never know quite what's going to happen until we get started.

Thankfully, we have some good friends on h...

Strategy Wrestle: Carenza vs Iron Age Settlement

In preparing for an archaeological excavation, some tough strategic decisions need to be made – for starters, where are we going to put the portaloos?

The list of things to sort out seems to be growing daily, but thankfully Professor Carenza Lewis is on hand to help guide us smoothly through the process.

In this session, Carenza shares her thoughts on the multifaceted site in far west Cornwall – a location that today seems remote, yet might once have been a thriving hub of int...

Strategy Wrestle: Helen Vs Roman Villa

September is under a week away now and while for many it means the summer holidays are drawing to a close, it's also a sign that Time Team's two new digs are fast approaching!

It's exciting but frantic too, with lots of details to be finalised. One such detail is the project design or 'Written Scheme of Investigation' (WSI) for each site. In this discussion, Helen Geake drills deeper into the core issues that she would like to address at the Roman villa.

Word of the Day #2: Absolute Dating

Nope, this isn't the name of a brand new dating service that Time Team is launching. In fact it has more to do with timber than Tinder.
