Join us for a quick drive around the Cornish site featured in this year's digs in the Time Team Land Rover.
As you'll see, the Land Rover was kitted out with 2021's 'Flags of Fame', adorned with the names of our Patrons. Your name could be on there somewhere!

As Dr John Gater frequently likes to remind us (without a hint of bias), "the best thing about Time Team is the geophys!"
In fairness, from the very first episode of Time Team onwards, geophysics has been critical in identifying targets for the team to investigate.
John and his team have employed a range of techniques on both our 2021 sites, mapping out the hidden world beneath our feet with pinpoint accuracy.
We are busy pulling together and analysing the various layers of ...

Just for fun (and as a bit of an experiment), we produced a 3D laser scan model of the Time Team 2021 'Wall of Fame' banner that showcased many of your names on site at our new digs. We quite like the slight weathered artefact look and feel it has! You can view the interactive model here: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/tt-friends-bde47b185bcc449f94cc96659bf8b313

To celebrate the release of Robert Harris's The Cicero Trilogy in hardback, we've teamed up with Penguin Random House to offer a copy of the book, a Time Team hoodie and travel cup to one lucky winner!
Derek Pitman caught up with the bestselling author of historical thrillers including Fatherland and the Netflix smash, Munich, for a fascinating chat about recreating the past, and the parallels between archaeology and writing fiction.
Robert transports us...

Introducing 'Trench Cam' – a fixed position 'surveillance' camera, offering a unique perspective into an archaeological excavation through 'Big Brother' livestream style, fly-on-the-wall footage.
Archaeology can involve flurries of activity and moments of great excitement. Yet these are often separated by slower-paced periods of reflection and the meticulous undertaking of a repetitive task over time.
In this case, we are witnessing the careful precision of the mechanical digger...

As the old expression goes, 'Call a spade, a spade'.
But being the good sport that he is, Matt Williams has kindly offered our Patrons the chance to name his trusty grandfather's spade, and we've narrowed it down to three options.
We know: it's not big and it's not clever, but it's just a small bit of Friday fun, so please make your vote count in the upcoming poll and we can settle this matter once and for all.
Matt has just made the following confession to us: "I'm ki...

We have more to share from them coming soon.

Our second site in Oxfordshire has two distinct strands, with the Roman villa located on the estate of an equally grand building that dominates the landscape: Broughton Castle.
Derek and Lawrence spent much of Day Two at the castle, carrying out some high-tech archaeology and catching up with historian Professor Suzannah Lipscomb. We'll be sharing more of their adventures around this stunning building in due course. Until then, here's a Spoil Heap session in the grounds with Suzannah.

As you've seen over the last two digs, there are many crucial roles on Time Team – but one of the key roles that we rarely get to see is the Director of the episodes. So, without further ado, let us introduce Emily Boulting.
Emily is no stranger to Time Team and has been involved with the show for many years as both a Director and Producer. She directed several fan favourites featured on Time Team Classics, including 'Gold in the Moat' at Codnor Castle and our Cornish adventure on Loo...

It's been another busy day in Oxfordshire for Time Team. Derek and Lawrence have been off filming at the castle, but there's been plenty going on at the villa site too, with many trenches now opened up, and finds cropping up all over the place. In fact, when they returned for our Site Walkabout, we discovered a rather special find of our own!

On site, we have our graphic artist supremo, Neil Emmanuel, and here he is in action!
Over the weekend, Neil is going to use scribing to help us to visualise one of three features related the Roman villa site: a sarcophagus, a mosaic or a hypocaust. You get to decide which one!
Take part in our poll to let us know which feature you would like Neil to scribe. We'll even grab one of the experts to explain how it works and guide us through the process.

Our Roman villa is a site on a grand scale and it sits within a vast landscape. Thankfully the team at Cycling Sports Group UK have lent us a couple of e-bikes to help us get around the site!
Stewart can often be seen exploring the countryside on two wheels, so keep a look out for members of the team meandering across the landscape during the dig.
