Day One of our Roman villa dig in Oxfordshire is off to a great start. Here's Tim, Derek and Lawrence this morning discussing a key aspect of the dig: data gathering.
Over each weekend, we are amassing a huge amount of data using a range of techniques, which will ultimately be pulled together to provide an immersive experience for both sites.
We are already sharing a small taster of this through the 3D models on Sketchfab, and we'll be delving into this further as the project deve...

Just another quick preview of the beautiful English countryside today, before we get properly underway with the archaeology tomorrow.
The drones have been up in the sky over Oxfordshire and we'll have the first model to share with you in the morning (UK time), before heading out for Site Walkabouts and preparing our first Spoil Heap Q&A.
Thanks again from all team, and we'll see you soon!

With the dust finally settling after our first dig, Derek and Lawrence have decamped to a local pub back in their Dorset stomping ground to reflect on the experience.
It was a whirlwind three days and with the second dig fast approaching, we're busy preparing for another eventful weekend. We're reading all of your comments, making some tweaks, and feeding these in to our Dig Watch plans. Please look out for more trench-side action coming your way very soon!

You never know what you might find on a Time Team dig. While our Cornish site is associated with the Iron Age, this particular artefact discovered during the weekend is a more recent object – a modern flat iron, likely dating from the 19th or 20th century.
