Well this was ridiculously fun to make. A shout out to Drew Durnil for joining me! Happy Presidents Day, everyone, and thank you for your continued support.

Voting for the Best Way to Vote

What's the best way to vote? Well, last month, several of YOU voted for the best way to vote, using four different voting systems. Here are the results.

This was a lot of fun for me, by the way. :)

In other news, my last video got age-restricted and views came to an abrupt halt after that. I am going to livestream about my experience with "age-restricted" content here in an hour or so if you want to try to catch it.

Thank you for your continued support!

Every President's Biggest Mistake

I uploaded this a second time since the first time I did, it was age-restricted. So far this one is not...for some reason...but we shall see. Anyway, I'm telling you this because age-restricted videos are not monetized and are often not promoted by algorithms, which is why your support is extremely valuable. People assume I make ad revenue for every video, but often I do not.

So again, thank you for your continued support.

Also, this one is nearly 40 minutes long and is guar...

We went ahead and started a separate Patreon page

After consulting with a few folks, including some of you, I have decided to launch a separate Patreon page for my The Beat Goes On channel. The fact is, the audience for that channel is quite a bit different from my Mr. Beat audience, so this just makes sense. Although, I do realize some of you enjoy videos from both channels. To you I say, "WOAHNESS. THAT IS INCREDIBLE. THANK YOU SO MUCH."

Thanks for your continued support.

The Gulf War Explained

I finally covered the Gulf War, and I plan on future videos about the Iraq War and War in Iraq as well (eventually). I've been putting off videos on both the Philippine–American War and Vietnam War, but look for those as well at some point.

Thanks for your continued support!

Edit: Thanks to Osbers and Andrew for pointing out the mistake. It's re-uploaded!

Full Metal Jacket 101 (The Beat Goes On)

Here is the first documentary I have made about a film for The Beat Goes On in over a year! I meant to make this last summer to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Full Metal Jacket's release, but got busy...but better late than never amirite?

This is a collaboration with Jared Bauer, the co-founder of Wisecrack. I met Jared back in 2019 and have enjoyed staying in touch with him. He is a deep thinker and a big reason why I still have hope for the future of this planet. Be sure to c...

The Supreme Court Case that Defined States' Rights | Barron v. Baltimore

I am currently almost halfway done writing my book about the Supreme Court. This is one of the cases I highlight in the book, of course. I would argue this is a top 10-important Supreme Court case in American history to know about. I wish I made this video sooner!

Thank you for your continued support!

Oh, and happy 2023!

Johnny Harris Is Wrong About Inflation

It's time to get spicy again.

As some of you may know (but most of you probably don't know!), I recently began reacting to American history, geography, and economics videos on my Twitch channel (@iammrbeat) Mondays at 9am Central. This video, in which Johnny Harris haphazardly explains inflation, was the very first one I reacted to. I decided to edit my live reaction down and release this to a wider audience, considering just around 30 folks or so saw me react to it live for the f...

What if Abraham Lincoln didn't win the election of 1860?

It's my first (and likely last) alternate history video I've ever made! What if Stephen Douglas won the presidential election of 1860 instead of Abraham Lincoln? Eh?  Don't forget that this is a trilogy! Emperortigerstar did an alternate history video on the Election of 1844, and Alternatehistoryhub did an alternate history video on the Election of 1920.

Let's say....um.... I did make another alternate history video for a presidential election. Which one would you li...

Austin and San Antonio Compared

Expect a lot more cities compared for this series now that I've covered all the states. I have been lucky enough to visit both of these awesome cities, and it's no surprise to me that they are two of the fastest growing major metros in the country.

The President Who Saved the World

This one definitely got out of control, but I think it's possibly worth it to watch the entire 40 minutes? Ike is now my second favorite President, and I'm come to this conclusion after spending a considerable amount of time reading books about him (check my sources in the description and footnotes) and visiting to his presidential library and museum twice (2019 and 2022, which I document in the video).

We need another Ike! We are long overdue for that kind of leadership.  View Post

Why Do I Hate FDR?

Well, first of all, I don't. He's my 11th favorite President, after all. But here is why he doesn't crack the top 10.

This one will also go live tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm going to make some mashed potatoes now. :)

Why do people not vote?

In this video, I explore six reasons why people VOTE not to vote. See what I did there? Eh?

I know nearly all of you vote, but if you have that friend who has never voted and refuses to, maybe quietly send this to them? One of my missions in life is to increase civic engagement, and that always starts with getting people to the ballot box.

I called every U.S. Representative in the country. Here were the responses I got.

In mid-July 2022, I called every voting member of the U.S. House of Representatives, mostly pretending like I was a constituent of their district. I collected their responses and here are the results. For a more detailed look at responses, here is the spreadsheet: 2022-10-27 13:31:32 +0000 UTC View Post

A Brief History of the Cranberries (The Beat Goes On)

I never got to see the Cranberries live, but they are one of my favorite bands, and after the tragic death of Dolores O'Riordan I knew I just had to make this one. Fun fact, "Zombie" was the second song I ever learned how to play on the guitar.

A Brief History of the Ramones

I never realized how much music the Ramones actually released! That's why this video ended up being not so "brief" after all. After I researched the band and wrote the script, I was lucky enough to go to a YouTube conference in Greenwich Village, New York City, which was where the punk rock scene started and the Ramones played their first few hundreds of shows. A shout out to my friend and colleague Steve Zammarchi, who gave me a tour of the Village after I arrived to NYC.

Driving the Oregon Trail in a Tesla

I had at least 20 hours of footage (mostly thanks to my GoPro mounted on the windshield), but I was able to edit all of it down into a 1 hour, 46 minute documenta...
