It's back to Africa! I sure learned a lot while making this, and now I really want to visit both countries. In particular, Somaliland seems like a fascinating place. Speaking of which, don't forget to check out Fredo's video as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChoDQhb8EeE

This video hopefully changes your perception of Herbert Hoover. Although he wasn't perfect, and clearly one of the worst Presidents in American history, he did so much great humanitarian work and arguably saved millions of lives. Not many Presidents, or humans, for that matter, can also claim that.
I got to film on location TWICE for this one. For those of you who don't know, we drove the Oregon Trail, and that will be a future video, but while we were in Oregon I stopped by Hoover's ho...

Just an update here...
I have a very big video in the works. We just got done driving the entire Oregon Trail, and I'm turning it into a video that should end up being quite epic. However, it might take me a few weeks to edit, as I have dozens of hours of footage....so....so wish me luck! :)
In the mean time, here is another music history video over on my other channel, The Beat Goes On. It's the first video I cuss in, although it's censored so don't worry if you're watching aroun...

This was a collaboration with my friend Will from the channel Exploring History. He also wrote much of the script for the video. Not only that, a Patreon supporter, Adam Christians, provided some of the animations for this one. All this wonderful teamwork led to a video I am quite proud of, and hopefully one or both of these are states in the near future.
Also, I have decided to compare the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan. :)
Thank you for your continued support.

I decided to finally cover this case when I saw a lot of bad takes and misinformation about the First Amendment on social media (I know, I know, I really ought to stay off there). This is one of the most important First Amendment Supreme Court cases in American history, and the one which gave us the trope "you can't yell fire in a crowded theater."
Let me know what other landmark decisions you'd like me to cover for this series. There are (unbelievably) many that I still have yet ...

Edit: I had a small error in the other video so I corrected it and re-uploaded. Thanks for catching that, Dante!
Here is a video suggested by many viewers, including some of you. One thing I didn't mention in the video is tribalism, but I felt like many of my viewers would already be keenly aware of that causing this divide.

In episode 67 of Supreme Court Briefs, a mother's three children are murdered after the local police don't enforce a restraining order.
This was a tough and unfortunate case.
What do you think? Did the Court get it right?

In this video, I explain the Great Replacement Theory and how manipulative propaganda fools us into believing white nationalist talking points.
This was a very difficult video to make, as I had to sift through a lot of hateful content in order to produce it. That said, I did get a lot of assistance making it and for that I am forever grateful.
I know this may sound ambitious, but my hope is that this video can perhaps help prevent white nationalism from spreading. This stupi...

I can't believe I hadn't made this one yet.
Not only did I get to collaborate with Mr. Terry for this one, but I got to also HANG OUT with Mr. Terry for a few days in Southern California while we attended Vidcon. He is a great dude and fantastic history teacher, and I highly recommend you check out his channel.
Also, DAM, I forgot Hoover's dam! What other accomplishments/achievements did I miss?

Here is a brief version of the incredible true story about that time John Tyler nearly died in office, but MUSIC saved him.
In other news, I'll be in Anaheim, California for Vidcon next week. If you are in the area and want to meet up, let me know and I will try my best to arrange it!
So I have now compared all 50 states, and some of them twice!
Oops, except for Michigan. What should I do with Michigan?
In other news, I will be out in California next week for Vidcon and Disneyland. I'm thinking about having a meet up. If you are in Southern California and want to meet up, please DM me.

You all know that I am not a fan of corporate or income taxes (wealth taxes and excise taxes are ok, in my opinion), but after researching Henry George and his land value tax over the past few weeks, I can safely tell you that a single, land value tax is the best way to go.
Maybe someday in the distant future we can actually see it happen at a widespread level.
So yeah, I'm biased toward liking Georgism, but what do YOU think? What am I missing? Why is a single, land value t...

Not only am I proud of how this one turned out, even the ad was really fun to make. :)
Being "self-made" is something I have thought deeply about for awhile now. I think if we all think about it how the phrase perhaps doesn't mean what we think it does, it will lead to a more honest conversation about almost everything regarding politics and culture.

This really is one of the most important SCOTUS cases of all-time. It may even be in the top five. And yet, here I am just now making it! I am now on a mission to make as many more videos as I can on landmark cases in the following months. Look for more Supreme Court Briefs!
Thank you for your continued support. You are all playing a major role in making my dreams come true, and I couldn't be happier.

Well this one was really fun to make, but it sure took me awhile. I probably put at least 50 hours into making it, believe it or not, which is why your support continues to mean so much.
Next week is the next episode of Supreme Court Briefs.
Also, stick around to the end of this one. Many of you all get a shout out. :)

I will add that I talked to multiple Congressional staffers "off the record" after I did these livestreams. Unfortunately I can't share what they told me. What I can say is that I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in the current way we petition the federal government. We'll see if I have more success getting responses back from U.S. Representatives.
Before watching, see if you can guess which Senator sent me a video response. :)

Admittedly, this could have been a much longer video. However, don't worry. One day I plan on making an epic video about Franklin, who is one of my favorite people to study in American history.
So a #shorts for now, but more to eventually come!
Thanks to my good friend Dan for looking over this script. Many of his ancestors came over from Norway to moved the Midwest as part of that wave I mentioned that happened in the 1800s.
And I just gotta say, these two countries are amazing. The more I learn about the world, the more I get frustrated with my own country. We can be better. We ought to always aim to be better.
Anyway, short rant over. Thank you for your continued support on here. A lot of new folks started suppo...

Ever thought about which person in history was the most responsible for the deaths of human beings? Well, I've thought about it probably too much. Here I go into the infamous trio of murderers, although all were not equally ruthless.
This is also a collaboration with other history YouTubers called Project Dictator. Check out the entire playlist in the description of the video.

I attempt to explain STAR voting in less than one minute.
Thanks to my Patreon supporter, Michael M, for suggesting I make a video about this voting method. I am only aware of STAR voting because of him. In fact, because of him, I now think STAR voting is the best way to vote.
Here is my order of preference for best ways to vote:
1. STAR voting
2. Ranked-choice voting
3. Approval voting
4. Score voting
5. Plurality voting

Supreme Court Briefs returns with an episode that will do well likely due to name recognition alone. OR people may not click at all because they're sick of him. Either way, it's an important case that looks at Presidential power. I hope you dig it!

This one took a looong time to make, but it was worth it. My goal is to make more of these music history videos in the coming months. I might put up a poll to see if I should start a separate Patreon account for The Beat Goes On. I know they are quite a bit different than the Mr. Beat stuff, but I want to make more and more of them in the future because I just love making them.
