Finally had a second to get more photos!

Hi guys!

In the final stretch of crafting now, as you can see the islands, magnetic bushes and tufts are all done, as are the new grassland tile edges, including a solution for giving ugly square edges some beautiful curves! Albeit without the green layer of static grass on yet 😂

Versions of these edge curves for Mountainblocks hopefully incoming with the magnetic V3 of those, which I'm aiming to work on after this - just in case you've got mountains planned ;)

Busy week!

Hi Guys!

Sorry I didn't manage to drop an update this week, I've been working flat out on getting the recording of the crafting done, and on top of that working on tons of accessories I hadn't originally planned to include but added as patrons requested (bushes, magnetic plant life, etc) - it's cool stuff but it takes time 😅

This is by way of saying the project will likely be multiple videos again, 2 crafting videos at least, one of which I think will be a bonus video exclus...

I had a second between jobs with a clear desk so I thought I'd take the opportunity to give you all an update :)

I've now finished the bulk of the tiles that I can before recording the rest (I do this to keep the recording area more tidy and less insanity generating 😄), so next week I'll be getting properly started on clips for the video (I'm gonna do the resin all at once, because messy 😁)

As you can see in the image I've added some new magnetic attachment...

Texture Day! And I tested something that solved a problem :)

So today (aside from a day job meeting - which was the last with that client! Starting to be able to wind things down more!) I've been working on getting texture and rocks down on the bulk of the tiles. I also painted a few of the details like the skulls there and some fish, a dead skellie and a golden crown... but that's for later :)

As you can see I've been using the technique I showed in the basing video to create detailed textures for the different surfacing materia...

Quick (rough) preview of the water islands...

So guys! I've been busy grinding away at the bulk of the tiles, getting them all prepped for textures and rocks and other fun stuff, but at the same time planning some stuff for the next stage!

This image is a VERY rough example of one of my current plans for the water island tiles that will sit in the middle of rivers or off the coast/in a lake....

The idea is to make them rocky (and therefore modular, things like bushes and grass mean it wont work in a cave), and have just eno...

Quick Progress Update!

Hi Guys,

So! I've managed to finalise my procedure for the resin to be used on the tiles (hurrah!) but the final tests are not cured and finished so I cant quite show them off (hurroo...)

The main reason it's taken this long is its a bit more complex than just 'make water look good', partially due to the river bed materials to enable me to get a better looking finish giving bubble issues, but also because of the little trick we'll be using to fool the eyes and save us some resin...

So, the ripple effects look SICK....

Yeah, I just had to post twice in a day for this. LOOK AT THOSE RIPPLES!

Is it bad I kinda want to drink it? 😂

Even with the test tiles being bubbly, different colours and generally less than perfect, it STILL blends really well, especially in person, and the lines between tiles just melt away!

I am VERY happy with this, I honestly thought the lines would just be part of the build, a sacrifice to the god of modularity but nope! It just works :)

final tests, water tests and ground texture previews

Hi Guys,

So I thought I'd drop a few quick images while I have my lunch, you can see here some work on a test tile where I thought I'd experiment with the ground textures too while I had the chance - the idea is to have variety among the river banks, some more dirt, some more small river stones, some more rocky and treacherous...

the first two is the test tile, with some dirt thrown over. its drying, so some of this will be getting brushed off, but I think it's looking awesome!...

Quick update on the resin experiments!

The updates have been a bit more sparse this time, mainly because there has been a LOT of experimenting, learning, testing over and over and a lot of theorycrafting.

BUT! I can now see a light at the end of that particular tunnel, and I can share a few tests with you for some findings you might find interesting if you ever work with resin :)

Hi Guys!

So I've been busy! Not pictured are dozens of fully magnetised tiles, but what you can see is a rough idea of how they can be used :)

The first image is how they can be used with mountainblocks  - your river can be set into a canyon with ease, and the dirt tile corners can be attached to the back of tiles to allow for placing corner mountainblocks too. Or you could attach more dirt tiles to the back to widen the dirt bank area of the river...more on that later.......

So, I've spent the last few days experimenting to find cheap alternatives/support materials for resin for those who find it too costly. This has met with...mixed success - but luckily may not actually be necessary!

Late on today, I had a big chat with a bunch of you guys in Discord, where we managed to find that resin isn't as expensive in the US as I presumed ($90+tax/delivery for 1 gallon/4L), and can be bought for a very similar price to that in the UK/Europe (£50 w...

City Tiles Bonus Gallery - Plus Extra Tip for Using Interior walls!

Hi Guys!
