Tricorporated Ram Sigil
Here's the first of the commissions I have slotted for the next few days.
This one is the simplest: a small sigil to be used in a future medial themed indie game.
Cheers,

The Border Trilogy:
I probably mention being a fan of him often enough that it's no surprise I'm a big fan of Cormac McCarthy. I promise It's not all I read but every time I finish one of his books (still have a few to read)I'm just floored by them and want to talk about them with people. The stories, the way they are written. The scenes. The imagery. It's just all so much my thing that other writers just don't do it for me like McCarthy.
Anyway. I just finished Citie...
Hi folks,
I'm back at it and eager to draw. Writing is going slow but well and I'm tapped out of ideas for the Augur at the moment (if you have any, that could be a commission) so I'm opening spots for commissions. One spot if someone orders a big piece or two if enquiries for small pieces.
PM me or shoot me an email at the.art.of.z@gmail.com
Let me draw something cool for you.
(I've made a post about it on Tweeter but as always Patrons get priority). <...

General Update:
- On the docket this week is my return to the writing of my next book tentatively titled "The Pelt". This process has been lower than I thought It would but the few people I've shared the WIP text with seem to be digging it so I'm feeling confident in it and I'm just going to proceed at the pace that it warrants.
- Augur series:
I've finally settled on the conclusion of this project: It's going ...
New Augur. Not much to say about this one other than the execution ended up working much better than expected.
As always it's up for grabs if anyone wants it. 300€ + shipping. PM for availability.
Have a great weekend,
Zé
Hi everyone,
Here's the final cover for Syn-Ket Studien. The album will become available for streaming next monday, released in conjunction with a video on Hainbach's channel (I think, that's the plan at least). There will also be some sort of crowdfunding effort in partnership with Bandcamp for the vinyl and possibly cassette. Hainbach is still figuring out the details but I'll make a post about it once I have more info, for those interested.
You can watch the...
Hi folks,
Me and Hainbach are currently deciding on the final design elements for the final design but here's the finished illustration.
Early next week I'll share the final version once the color scheme is decided and a making-of vid.
It's been an intense couple of weeks to get this one to the finished line, rally looking forward to all the resting I'll be enjoying this weekend. Enjoy yours too!

I'm halfway through Things Fell Apart, a podcast mini series by Jon Ronson about the history behind some of today's biggest topics (the culture wars has he calls it). As always, Jon comes to this with a lot of humanity, nuance and some utterly fascinating stories. I'm a huge fan of his work. Highly recommended.
Always looking for more podcasts if you have any rec...

Starting the inking of this piece was a struggle, to say the least. Monday and tuesday were days of intense heat and my studio felt like a small oven. Heat is awful for inking: the ink feels thicker, you suddenly feel like your previous great control of the brush is mysteriously gone. You mix water drops into the ink, put ink cups in the fridge. But the right recipe is hard to find. You study old artworks for comparison, trying to prove to yourself you had once managed to get much thinn...

Last week I started working on this cover art for Hainbach, an electronic music composer. I'm a huge fan of his and have learned a whole lot about music production from his wonderful youtube channel so I was extremely excited when he came to me with a request for a cover for his new album.
The concept behind the record is this: While visiting the Museo Del Synth Marchigiano, a museum of old and rare early italian synthesizers he had the chance to spend a few sessions with the Syn-Ket a...
Hi folks,
Since I was asked to share some pages from this project that I mentioned in that old artworks post here's everything I worked for it.
It was called Antediluvian, written by Ulises Farinas & Robert Mediavilla, a proposed comic mini series about the Old testament mixed with the early history of Earth. Basically Adam and Eve and their descendents roaming around Pangeia. Dinosaurs and the like.
I think that layout for the "banishing from the garden" double page is still...
I was a lucky to see Steve Gunn live earlier this week and so I thought I'd highlight my favorite record of his this week. This is one of my most replayed summer/ drinking coffee on a bright morning records. It just has one of those "life's good" moods. It's relaxed and breezy and warm and hit's that sweet spot between folky pop and sonic experimentation that I love a lot.
The live show was a great representation of Gunn as an artist: He opened with 3 gentle and superbly well written folk...
Hi friends,
As promised, here's a look at some of the old art I found at my folks house. Organized from oldest to newest.
My love for the spooky stuff goes waaay back.
Age: around 11 - 13 years old

Here's a fun one. Been thinking about this concept for a while but every time I started doodling I couldn't come up with a cool face. This time I decided to push through and get it done since no other ideas came to me. The beard of wheat kinda unlocked it and the rest was a breeze. Well, not a BREEZE. It's been 40º celsius for most of the day, a living hell if you are trying to ink something. But I'm really happy with this one, I like how goofy it looks and yet kinda creepy. I want to ...

Hi everyone,
My parents just sold their house, home for a big portion of my life. We spent the weekend packing and cleaning up so I snapped a few photos of some things that shaped the artist I am today.
A good example is the wall of the bathroom, a collage of old newspaper engravings done by my mother. Lots of cumulative hours spent on the "the throne" staring at these. No wonder engravings ha...

Hiya folks,
Busy week mostly focused on packing store orders and writing the book.
Here's a sketch that might eventually be used for the soundtrack. It's pretty much finished but it would be cool to add some tremolo-y guitar part. Then again I do like the minimalism. This sketch relates to a scene with the characters marching through a desert at night.
That title (along with a sentence i...
When I was in college this illustration teacher I hugely respected (and still do, in some ways) told me there would will come a point where I'd have to choose between earning a living by adopting a style with more mainstream appeal or be doomed to do cool things in obscurity and in total poverty.
That didn't sit well with me at the time and still doesn't but it's not totally untrue, just a little soul killing, maybe? That sentiment fueled me in the opposite direction for a long time an...
Another skull mash-up, an idea I first tried with the Augur of Annihilation piece.
Selling this one for 80€ + 10€ shipping.
PM for availability.
I'll be doing pieces like this every once in a while. I like the idea of original art that's a little more easily accessible to everyone and it's a good platform to develop symbols for later projects, something I like to do a lot. Plus I love the Augurs but coming up with exciting ideas for those is getting a little bit hard...
A tiny drawing of a triple headed snake that I drew today for "fun", on A5 size paper (slightly smaller actually).

( "The Pelt" definitely won't be the final title )

The trail led them up rough terrain surrounded by steep and jagged cliffs and down a small valley that converged into the gates of a narrow pass. There they journeyed for several days, tracing the serpentine path towards the mountains.
Along the sides of the ravine grew dense thickets of shrub oak that hid orchards of edible cacti and at night the walls became the stage for hypnotic pl...

This week's movie is Princess Mononoke. I doubt any of you are not familiar with it but I was just rewatching it the other day (for the millionth time) and it really struck me of how influential it has been to my work. Every once in a while I look at something from either my comics or past illustrations and make a connection to Miyazaki's film. I was curious to rewatch the film (it's been a while) because it just popped into my head the other day that this new book I'm ...

Commission for Lav of her dog Leia, a beautiful german shepherd.
It's a really dark and rainy day so I couldn't manage to take a decent photo of the original but hey nothing's more direct than a scan.
While dealing with the covid I re-watched Detectorists, as I always do when I feel like watching something cozy, funny and light. There's something about this show that feels like a warm blanket to me.It could be the gorgeously shot rural England sights, the folky soundtrack, the character driven subtle jokes or the low stakes plots... Plus any comedy that intertwines references to Saxon burials and the like is just very much my bag of tea. Really highly recommend this show. ...

Hello beautiful people. I'm back from covid purgatory and cured of the pesky vertigo shenanigans and finally feeling strong , although still having the occasional trouble with my back due to a really shitty couch that's the fault of my pain problems. I guess I'll have to start looking for a new one.
Feels good to be drawing again, between all that and the move it feels like I haven't touched a pencil in months.
Trying to wrap up the writing so I can start serializing the new book...
Hi folks just wanted to update you since I haven't been posting: recently I moved and between all the heavy boxes and falling asleep on a really stiff couch I ended up injuring my neck and have since been suffering from a really bad case of vertigo.
Well, I'm now free of the vertigo (apparently) but bed ridden with covid.
Just wanted to let you know I haven't been neglecting this space out of my own will and will be back posting regularly as soon as I can.
Best

They set out from Muur towards the open prairies to the east and within half a day’s journey they crossed the last of the derelict farms that bordered the old town. Scattered throughout the black bones of houses and barns. They passed the ruins of a temple spotted with the marks of cannon fire, eerily peaceful and bathed in golden light...
