here's a little secret weapon for getting your house/garage drums right.
BUT - all those records that have those really chunky hat loops with that nice flow - this gets you there sonically fast. pick good top loops/hats, apply groove, and do the following:

just sharing some insight on "true peak" - since that whole "no master" topic came around i've been experimenting with some older concepts i've learned over the years from friends who master/mix on a pro level.
one of these concepts was how Spotify "penalizes" mixes that are "too loud" or have true peaks.

By request, here's some screen shots of VISION 4X on the previous quick tip video, kind of spelling out what's going on here.
Again, this is mainly for dance music - rock wouldn't be mixed like this which is why when you go on "Mix With The Masters" and all that stuff you won't see guys getting into this level of detail. That said, mixing low end in dance music is EVERYTHING - whereas in pop/rock/radio music, a LOT of effort is put onto vocal processing the same way we obs...

OH and i forgot to mention - the time stretching algorithm is GREAT, and it's really easy to transpose samples. i'd argue it's better quality than ableton at times for timestretch/transposition.

by curating your presets, sound design you've made, and downloaded sample packs, you can quickly form playable ideas in less than an hour.
i don't always work like this - but this workflow tends to be great for getting club tunes done, and if you make a few of them a week, i'm sure some of them can develop to be great.

this is a great vocal chain for those burial-ish vocals, comes with 6 presets too
note: auto-shift has to be set to the key of the song you're working in, or else it'll sound really bad. you can disable auto shift also and tune/formant it with another vst, i just wanted to keep it stock.
