Zelda sure doesn't have raw strength, but with enough training anyone can learn to use anatomy and physical limits to their avantage. Getting her legs locked around Samus' arms, the princess is able to bring the bounty hunter down and lock her in place! This bounty hunter definitely doesn't need her suit or weapons to take down a princess. Some of the fights you can set up in Smash would really just be woeful beatdowns, wouldn't they? I mean, Samus Aran, trained professional mercenary versus... a princess? Who depending on the entry in the series may or may not have a little magic? Come on. Zelda's getting choked the hell out.

Standing sleeper holds can be extremely powerful- especially if the attacker has a height advantage over their victim. Gravity adds a truly impressive amount of damage to a choke. When one hundred percent of your own weight is pulling down to choke you unconscious, there isn't much you can do. On top of that, you have nowhere to gain leverage to try to escape!

If you think just sitting on Nessa is gonna be enough to keep her down, you are terribly mistaken. She may have been dazed for a moment eating such a big hit, but she definitely isn't out of this fight yet!
Melony assumed her victory a bit early. Bracing her legs and pushing up with a bridge, Nessa twisted and forced one of her arms up from under her captor's knee in one big effort. This was more than enough to topple the overconfident Melony and give Nessa a chance to turn the tables!...

This is just science at this point. When combined, ice ends up on top of water. This is just physics.
Melony is able to easily use her size advantage to follow up on her big punch and position herself on top of Nessa- her weight holding her opponent down, and her knees pinning her enemy's hands. Smothered and pinned as she is, Nessa can't easily tap, nor can she verbally submit. That's pretty bad news.
Ice versus Water- Big Left
The problem with grappling is that you have to get in. Sometimes it works great, sometimes you just throw a bunch of extra momentum into a huge punch coming your way by diving into it. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
