The Outpost of Nilou

Nilou is a small outpost on the northern part of Burbry in a region called Civilization's End. It is the last outpost you'll come across before heading into the wild and untamed wilderness to the north.

Many regions in Wordal improved as the influence of the Burbric Empire declined. However, the northern regions quickly started decentralizing and became more and more "uncivilized". The lands are now ruled by the tribal Lords of Olorlay and the Knurd clans. The northern region of Burbry ...

February Poll

February is almost over and that means that it's time to move on to the next theme! The options will be a little different than what they normally are, but I hope you'll like it.

As always, you can select multiple answers and the winning theme will be explored until the end of April.

Street Map + Interior Maps

We started off this theme by doing a nice street map and after that we started working on some of the interior designs for shops along the street. Four of them are now done, and as we're about to move on to a next theme I thought it would be cool to compile them into a single map.

This map shows the mapped locations on the city street map, with layers for each floor.

Blacksmith

Every town has one and Twyrif is no exception. Along Mayne Street you'll find Stouwart's Sweet Swords, a well renowned blacksmith in the city. Stouwart is a talented smith and over the years has established a name among adventurers. He delivered fine craftsmanship for a reasonable price. It is said that he even collaborates with Myrden, an alchemist and owner of Myrden's Wonders across the street. Together they create weapons with magical effect. But it's hard to determine if that's true. The...

Tavern

There are many shops, stalls and and taverns along Mayne Street in Twyrif, and you can spend a good day going through all of them. One of taverns that the town is known for is "Deen's Delicious Diner, Inn & Tavern"

Deen's Delicious Diner is known for its awful meals. The bread is hard and dry, and the meat is like chewing on leather. Something that is good about the tavern is the ale. What the tavern lacks in food it makes up for in drinks

It is the home of the court of King Auder XI, who resides in Castle Sassent, located on an island where the king does not have to meddle with the affairs of peasants.

The Kingdom of Burbry is known for the great gap between its sober, hard working peasants, and the lavish and careless nobles. If there is any place in the kingdom where this image is...

"As you're moving towards the town square you notice the crowd around you getting denser. Finally you reach the market square. It's not as big, but there's certainly more people than you expected. As you're checking out what the vendors have to offer you feel a push in your back. You turn around and see a couple of children running away from you. You feel in your pockets and realise your pouch is missing! Luckily you were prepared for this and you still have most of your gold hidden away....

New Theme: Urban

So the poll results are in and the winning theme is Urban.

Fun fact, that theme was also chosen for January last year!

I already have some map ideas for you! I plan to do a town map along with some encounters like a town square, alleys, bridges and maybe a town hall.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions for what we can do with this theme!

Happy 2020 and January Poll

Hey everyone! 2020 has started and I'm very excited to see what it has to offer! 2019 has been a wild ride with a lot of ups and downs.

It was the year that saw me earn enough out of cartography to really make a living out of it! It was also the first time in 3 years that I could wrap up any and all projects and take 2 weeks off entirely and spend the holidays with my family.

Castle Sassent

The kings of Burbry care about appearances more than anything else. Everything they do they do to maintain an image of power, wealth and splendor. They consider themselves to be higher and more noble than any other king.

Castle Sassent was constructed for just that. To show the world how great and powerful the Kings of Burbry are. It is built on a small island just off the coast, overlooking the capital city of Mirrouse. From almost every angle in the city you can see the North To...

December Update

Time for another belated monthly update. December is here, the holidays are around the corner and for many of us it's the busiest time of the year, so let's get going!

First off I want to start by saying that December will be a bit more quiet than usual. I'm going to try to get at least two maps posted, but with the holidays and all I can guarantee that I'll be able to publish more. I'll be on vacation from December 21st until January 4th and after that I'll be back at full speed!

The City of Darlon-is-Met

In the center of the kingdom of Burbry lies the city of Darlon-is-Met, Darlon-on-the-Met. Thanks to its central location and being on the main road the city sees a lot of traffic to and from the capital. Over the years it has grown wealthy and vast. The city's population consists primarily of upper class citizens, though a small portion of the people are lower class. These live mainly on the western part of town. The gap between the two couldn't be larger.
