Who goes first?

Two contenders arrive.

And join forces with the creep who's sunk to a new low. Alan's been saying fuck you to science since 2012 but now he's...unhinged.

Given the circumstances, I may already have made up my mind. That doesn't mean I'm not curious about who you'd like to see stripped of credibility ...

The Insider’s Guide to Evidence Based Fitness: Part 1

Excuse the delay. Me and time, you know the story. But in a minute or two, my webmaster will post the article and you'll see that it was worth waiting for.

And when part 2s out, you'll beg for more or mercy. Probably more. Talk soon.

A personal message from your's truly. I can't lie, guys. I've been procrastinating a good bit with this FAQ and could use some help. It's probably a combination of everything that's happened recently, but the damn thing bores me to tears and putting it together in a coherent format is the last thing I want to do right now.

Because, among other things, it's damn hard to draw the line between what's...

TLM: Accuracy of Energy Equation

This is for those who have completed 4 weeks of the diet as laid out in The Leangains Method.

Compare week 2 average to week 4 average and consider expected weight loss versus actual weight loss. Example:

Week/average weight

Week 1: 100

Week 2: 99.5

Week 3: 99.2

Week 4: 98.5

Assuming an expected weight loss of -0.5 kg/week, we can see that reality matches expectations perfectly here. Two weeks is expected to yield -1k...

2. Going forward, now that the integration is tested and works well, I think it's best to keep comments, questions and everything else related to said piece, here (on Patreon).  Otherwise I risk missing it.

Good news, dear friends.

1. Wrote a long article that I think you'll like. Guess the title.

2. Won't be publishing it in the shitty text editor that Patreon provides. It's horrendous and I can't stand it.

3. The article will instead be up tomorrow, Saturday, on leanga...

Alangate

If you're wondering what's been on my mind lately, read Alangate.

I don't care about the questions and comments on the main site but I'll answer your's if you have them.

Thought of saving some parts for this place, but don't think that kind of content would be appreciated by everyone. But now that this bullshit is over and done with, I can move on.

TLM: Study Participation

In order to perfect the energy calculation and improve the The Leangains Method, I am conducting a study. Participation is voluntary but much appreciated. (1)

The study consists of a Google Form to be filled in after each respective week on the diet. So, for example, if you've just finished Week 1 or Week 2 on the diet, you are eligible to participate - assuming you've logged your body weight like you're supposed to.

The total length of the study i...

Ok, where do I start? With bullet points as I don't want this to turn into a rant. With bad news, since I want to end on a positive note.

Bad News

  • Many have asked my opinion on the AA situation. It goes without saying that this has caused me stress and grief that I certainly could do without, especially at this unique juncture in my life. I will publish a post on the matter tomorrow; and perhaps I'll save some parts for this place.

This is a list of fixes for the print edition and they'll be in the updated Kindle version as well.

I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could have a look over and see if I missed something, however small.  Thanks a bunch for notifying me about them.  Can't wait to turn this shit in once and for all.

Rule of Thumb: Meat Prep

This is a new feature I'm calling "Rule of Thumb" and its purpose should be self-evident. It's worth will range from indispensable to good-to-know. This one falls in between for most of you, I think.

It was inspired by a Patron who asked me for values pertaining to chicken in Whole Goddamn Chicken.

I've talked about the importance of logging your meats right in The Leangains Method. This is about the importance of knowing the values f...

My Reality, Now

I'm so sorry, but I will need to slow my pace down a bit. The book took so much out of me and left a husk in its wake. It didn't take long before it started again. But I’d never guess there’d be so much shit to do so quick after The Leangains Method.

I couldn’t be happier with the response. Couldn’t be more disappointed in my inability to keep it together and man the fuck up.

But my workload and stress has increased tremendously due to many small and naggin...

Y’all know what time it is, WGC time. Of course! Because who among you  claim to never have eyed the juicy broilers on the grill spear - or whatever the hell it's called - twisting, turning and enticing you to order?

And in your mind there’s a voice saying fuck it, let’s go! Call it a 500 kcal meal and relax a bit! What’s the big deal?

And the other voice responds in its usual bitchy high-pitched voice, 'but we don’t know h...

Last Book Update (I Promise)

Guess you're sick and tired of these book updates by now, huh? Well, I don't blame you. This one's to let everyone know that the formatting snafu I mentioned in my last post was fixed and the finalized file uploaded in time. You'll all be able to read the book on the 16th.

Another reason for this post is to warn you that I might not get everything I wanted ready for the same day; i.e. the Patreon-exclusives tied to the book might drop during the weekend, and not on the 16th. J...

I'd love to tell you about the intricacies of book publishing, but that will have to wait for another day. For now, just know that I will be busy as shit for the next 96 hours; on Sunday 12th, the final manuscript - AKA The Book - must be uploaded to my Amazon account in order to meet the August 16th release date.

You're probably wondering what the big deal is because isn't The Book already done and ready to go? No, it's not - not after reviewing the .mobi-file (1) and finding sever...

The Leangains Method - The Art of Getting Ripped. Researched, Practiced, Perfected.

As the Lens suggests, there's two as of this moment FYI, I submitted my book to pre-order a few hours ago. The fine print states that it can take up to 72 hours before the page goes live. Our resident Amazon expert claims it'll be available within 3-24 hours however, so we'll see.

Price: In a last minute decision, I dumped the price. Set it to $9.99 instead of $29.99. Why? Call it my get-into-heaven-pass. It'll be the ace I pull when they ask. Plus it wouldn't...

Preparations

As happy I am with the book being finished, I am far from 'done' in any meaning of the word. Among the easier things I'm dealing with, I need to be available 24/7 to help out formatters and proofreaders who are tackling the manuscript.

Tackling? With hundreds of footnotes and scientific references, it's easily the most complex work they've encountered so far. In the fitness genre, there's not even a close second (1). I'm talking book, a damn hard one at that. Ain't a ...

Question Thread 34

  • Note about the book: Posted some stuff about pre-orders in the book thread. The TLDR is that I've read the fine print and can't find any reason not to make a pre-order option available. The decision rests on the team though - I'll ask this weekend, and if it's a go, it's a go. Pre-orders available as soon as I get my Amazon page up.
  • Note about Rule 12: Make sure you don't miss it. You'll be sorry otherwise. Meaning, I'll ban you. I'll obv...

Book Release, New Assistant, Etc

1. As implied on the Lens I put up yesterday, the book will be ready for release on August 3rd. Since the 3rd is a Friday, I will likely wait 'till Monday, which means the book will be available on Monday, August 6th.

2. There's a new assistant in town, a former client named Teddy. I brought him in because he's needed, and my only regret is not doing it earlier. Teddy is military, hungry to learn and a great guy. He will be my right hand man. A sec...

How Many Steps Per Day?

This is for those who track their daily activity and those who don't.

I'm interested in knowing your average step count/day. Take last week's total / 7 if only your weekly total is visible. If last week was unusual, i.e. perhaps you hiked through the Appalachian trail or had a million errands to run, then please use another week.

Bonus points to those who, in the comments, report their Mon-Fri vs Sat-Sun step count average.
