I’m really happy with Judith’s final design here. It’s always fun to discover what my monsters look like as I’m drawing them.

After this there’s one ending page, and the cover. Once those are done, I’ll compile everything into a pdf with the guest artists and a sketch gallery. That will be available free for all you patrons, or on itch in case people want to buy it. Thanks for sticking with me through this longer project!

I’m commissioning 3 other artists for illustrations of Judith! My plan is to include these pieces in the final PDF version of the comic, as well as to help promote it a bit when it’s done. I figured it would be fun to reinterpret an old drawing I did long, long ago. I redesigned this demonic pirate captain character a bit to make her fit into the world of Aphelion Red.

Hey all, apologies for the lack of updates recently. Things have gotten pretty hectic around the holidays, so I probably won’t make much progress on art in the next week or two. Here’s what I’ve done so far though.

Speedpaint videos removed

Hey all, unfortunately the speedpaint process videos will be unavailable for a couple days. Pornhub just removed them as part of their huge content purge, despite the fact that I got verified several months ago. I’m going to try to get them restored, but worse comes to worse I might have to find some new place to host them.

Nefarious archaeologist Judith Maddox has narrowly beaten the intrepid Doctor Farbright to the Beast God’s Ichor, a legendary elixir from an age long past. What horrors await our hero now that Maddox has finally achieved her goal?

First few pages done. I’m really enjoying this one, I’m hoping to finally get down some of the ideas I’ve always had but haven’t actually drawn.

I’ve got the dialogue, line work, and some of the colors done for page 3 here. Plus a bonus meme with @DeviLacroix that I thought captured Judith’s character nicely.

I’m really enjoying fleshing out more of the process for this TF than I usually do. I think I’ll post a few of these pages at a time publicly, just because the whole thing is going to take longer.

WIP - Ichor of the Beast God pg. 1-2

For this villainous character, I’ve settled on the name Judith Maddox. Seems appropriate for a 1940s era archaeologist of dubious morality.

I’m hoping to use more of a proper comic style for this sequence. So multiple panels and speech bubbles, instead of just full body illustrations. Crazy I know.

These colors may change a bit as I go along, we’ll see. But I have the basic flats and shading in.

I’m starting this new TF sequence. Your archaeological nemesis has narrowly beaten you to a mysterious ancient elixir. Now you can do nothing but watch as she drinks it, and begins to change.

There’s nothing hotter to me than a climactic villain transformation. Hopefully I can capture that here.

I absolutely love all of the visuals in Supergiant Games’ Hades. In an effort to steal some of that beautiful style for myself, I did a style study and drew Vara as an NPC in the game.

This was a really fun experiment, but I don’t think I could pull it off again. This style uses such fine, crisp black lines and such detailed and hard edged cel shading. It really demands a lot from your lining skill, color design, and knowledge of anatomy. hats off to Jen Zee and...
