Hello! It's a new month, so we've got a new thread for asking questions. I'll try my best to answer all of them at the end of November, but sometimes I don't have an answer for things people are wondering about. That's especially true when it comes to Our Life: Now & Forever, which is still very early in development with many of the specifics up in the air.

December 2022 Guest Art: Character Poll

It's time to vote on the last guest art for 2022 (though we'll have more in 2023)! In October people got to pick between all the Step 3 side characters who were being revealed outside of the Patreon. Now this next piece will feature one of the Step 3 characters who were saved for last. So, the options are Qiu and Tamarack, naturally, but also Renee for being the favorite non-lead and Pranny for being a beloved cameo character.

Our Life: HAPPY BIRTHDAY COVE 🎊🎁🎂

Our ocean boy is turning 25 🥺️. Thank you for all the years of happiness, Cove James Holden. And that's not even an exaggeration, haha. The first demo came out in 2019, over three years ago, and he still can make me and other people smile just by being around. It's wonderful.

Getting to make Our Life changed my life, and it's all 'cause of Cove. I'm so glad the grumpy-sunshiny-summer man got to exist and that his story was a goo...

Month Beginning Post: November 2022

Despite not being summer, November is an important month for Our Life: Beginnings & Always. It's the time of Cove's birthday, the 2nd, and has the anniversary for the game's original launch, the 16th. That means we're only about two weeks away from the two-year anniversary. Wow. And we're still making expansions for it, ahah....

Happy Halloween! If you celebrate that. 

Derek's DLC launched over a month ago already. I've gotta thank everyone again for the support with that. It's been great to read about people enjoying his story and to see that players will still try content even when it's not Cove-based. The pull of that guy's tide is always a fear when doing anything else, haha.

[Bug Fixes] Our Life: Now & Forever Prologue Beta Build 1.2.1. 🖤 (PC, Mac, Android)

Hey! We're going ahead and releasing an updated version of the latest Our Life: Now & Forever prologue. It doesn't have any new scenes but it fixed some issues with audio stuff and the MC screenshot feature, tweaked certain dialog to be clearer/have a little more context, and those new MC outfits made it in! 

There are still some small wording issues that have been brought up and need to be fixed, but we wanted to make sure people who were backing for the month of October got a...

Our Life: Suburb Background Sketch (Baxter's DLC)

Here's another new place you'll get to see in Baxter's story. It's some neighborhood in the suburbs. What are those crazy kids up to now? None of the main cast live in that place.

Our Life 2: MC Backyard (Sketch)

The MC's backyard is beautiful with a great wide view of the forest. Though considering they just moved there it is, in fact, entirely empty. No cool fort or tire swing. Poor MC. At least they can always visit their friends to play on their stuff!

But like the Derek DLC, Baxter's story will add some new content to the opening of his first major Step. This is a little sample of that. Baxter ends up being discussed on the walk where you see Miranda and Terri for the first time. I wonder what will come of it.

Our Life: City Path (Baxter DLC)

And here's the finished version of the first new background for the Baxter DLC 💕. It's been a bit slow going in terms of having stuff to show as previews, but the first few weeks of development have been productive!

Our Life 2: Unease Sample Track

Here's track 27! It's kind of a downer again, haha. But this one is less heartbreaking and more discomforting. With a song like this you can only wonder if the mood will go up from there or continue spiraling down.

It's time to meet the boy's club! The boy's club that turns out to have one single boy member, haha. Qiu and Renee don't identify as male when they're older. But hey, it's possible for the MC to join and if they're a boy they can bring that ratio up. And if they're not, it's an even more hilariously wrong description.

Both Our Life games have new scenes in the works and now that there's more for the characters to react to, Baxter and Renee needed some additional ways to express themselves! These extra faces are pretty great, haha.

It makes a little more sense why Baxter said his parents thought sending him to a beach town in California for the summer "wasn't too exciting". If we remember from Derek's DLC, getting to and from Sunset Bird without a car is a huge hassle. 

It's very funny because we all know he does indeed get a car when he's there in Step 3. The wishes of his "over-protective" ...

That's a fun fact! You see Ren's house on the way to school before you meet Renee herself. Now you know where the teacher lives, too, when she's weirdly not at the school like all teachers should be.

Like I mentioned in Tamarack's post, I have no idea when the script for Step 3 will actually be in progress, but at least we've got the art to keep us company.

Here we have the first look at a unique BG from Baxter's DLC! It's a lovely path outside of the city. Baxter might not know much about the area, but he's willing to put in the effort to find nice spots to visit. He's quite the sightseer, haha.

Here's a sample of track 26 (not counting songs that have multiple versions like Nostalgia and Flutter)! It's a rather dramatic piece for the most trying of moments. Life can be tough 😥. But at least in Our Life we know it'll all turn out okay in the end, ahah.

What a wonderful bounty 🥺️. The prologue in Step 1 has both a full introduction CG and an extra little cut-in for both Qiu and Tamarack. Qiu's cut-in appears during the current beta build, and now we can see what Tamarack's is!

Hi!

Yesterday we released more than one update patch for Our Life. First was to fix errors reported throughout the Derek DLC launch week, then to fix an issue with some saves not being able to work with that update, and then to fix an error that we became aware the same day we were doing the other updates. So, it was a busy day, haha. But everything should be settled now. 

Bug Fixes:

There were issues if you loaded an older save in the middle of Step 2 ...

Hello! I've got our usual Q&A thread ready to go. Here you can ask whatever questions you like and I'll do my best to answer them in a big session at the end of the month.

With the launch of the Derek DLC and Baxter's DLC being in production now, there's been a lot of interest lately in whether or not those guys will be getting content beyond their basic storylines (such as a wedding DLC or 18+ moment). I do just wanna say ahead of time so no one is disappointed later that unfortuna...

Our Life 2: Tamarack Sprite Sketch (Step 3)

We showed Tamarack's Step 3 appearance in a bonus design sketch HERE (you can also read about her personality at that age there). But now we've got her actual in-game sprite coming along!

She's so lovely 😭💞. And I'd say she's growing up too fast, but sadly it's still gonna be a long time before I actually write Step 3 scenes, aha.
