GiTS Bonus

A quick(ish) little bonus Ghost In The Shell pinup.

I thought it'd be fun to do a direct recreation of a classic Shirow pinup in my style, so I picked a very clearly booty focused piece (last slide) and went from there!

There's no spicy alts or anything for this one, I wanted to keep it simple - although I did render it twice lol. One in a cell shading style, and one in my "normal" rendering style. Which do you prefer?

I've been itching to do a GiTS pinup for years!! I never did it because A- I'm not a big anime head any more, and B - I hate drawing tech and armour and robotics... lol. But, seeing the Masamune Shirow exhibition in Tokyo earlier this year kind of lit a fire under me to get my arse in gear and get it done.

Anyhoo, here's my latest commission piece - Buffy the Vampire Slayer getting some gym time in.

Seeing as it's a 90s show I thought it'd be fun to lean into my comic stylings with some proper gritty black inks and initially I'd planned for simpler colours; but after messing with lasso selections and gradients I binned off that idea and went my usual route of airbrush rendering and tbh I love the result.

Soft Sunday

Playing around with a different workflow inbetween other bits I'm doing.

This is all built off of a greyscale sketch, with gradient maps applied over top and then painted into on layers above the original sketch with no additional linework or holds. It's kind of closer to working like a traditional painter in that you're always adding to the earlier work rather than working below it like I normally do.

It's been interesting and I might do it again for a personal piece in the futur...

I've been thinking about it a lot, and in all honesty I feel guilty for charging 10 quid a month for the higher tier. Okay, I'm back from Japan, and a few hours away from leaving again for Portugal (only til the end of the week)
