Upon posting the announcement about the main game being released for free there have been questions from followers asking if there are any other ways to help beyond just financial support.
Yes, there are! Here are some examples:
How are you doing?
Time to answer many of the long-awaited questions about the Tales of Rein Ravine game release! You don't wanna miss this!

Because there seems to still be confusion among some followers about what exactly is a demo and what is a main game, let's briefly go through the basics.
Demo - short for demonstration...

A glimpse from a dressage lesson! The instructor's voiceover through the loudspeakers is in testing at the moment. Additionally the written dialogue now supports icons and stylized text (like italic or different colors).
Speaking of text, the gameplay contains a decent amount of that since you are taking Equine Studies and other interesting classes in college. A small worry of mine has been causing reading fatigue to dyslexic or ADHD players, or in general the ...

A glimpse into one of the dressage movements in walk - spanish walk, where the horse takes exaggerated steps especially with its front legs. This movement could also be considered extended walk as there won't be a separate extended walk movement like in irl dressage.
Now a short introduction to how the dressage system in Tales of Rein Ravine works!
To perform a dressage movement, the horse first needs to be "on the bit", or in other words; engage...

The striding mechanic ("realistic jumping") we experimented with in the demo is going to be a core part of gameplay in the main game, both in showjumping and cross country. Unlike in the demo, the feature is no longer optional. No worries though - riding instructors at different barns in Rein Ravine will make sure you learn to count your strides.
To help beginner players to get familiar with the concept without constant rage quit, some of the more experienced horses hav...

Continuation to my last post about cross country! In this video you can see most of the different XC jumps (only box jump might have been missing?) and some of the cross country environment. π₯°
Additionally, the speedometer-style interface from the demo, which displayed the horse's gait on the left, has undergone a change. The previous one always felt more like a depiction of a vehicle than horse riding. The new speed interface gets shorter and longer to represent changing stride leng...

Cross country - shortened XC - in Rein Ravine has unique rules and a diverse variety of jump types that each have their own challenges.
First, let's talk a little bit about how the cross country competitions in general will work.

The obstacles in cros...

Here's a sneak peek of some recent work! Dressage moves - leg yield in all gaits and a canter pirouette have been implemented into the game. What other moves would you like to be able to ride? π

In addition to the uphill and downhill jumps, the new jumping system allows the horse to jump in-n-out combinations. This type of combination is a line of fences in which the fences are so close that the horse needs to start the next jump immediately upon landing the previous one. So no canter strides in between. Currently the mechanic works by holding the spacebar down throughout the combination.
In real life, I'm quite certain that combinations with zero strides are actually illegal i...

Additionally a new user interface element is visible on the left side of the screen, which presents the stride length in meters.

Quick video of the latest bigger work-in-progress project.
For the cross country aspect of Tales of Rein Ravine to truly work well, one core thing needs changing - how the playable horse pawn is built. By a pawn we don't mean the horse's appearance, but how the character is programmed and interacts with the world.
Jumping solid obstacles was horribly unideal with previous character. This is mainly why cross country was omitted from the demo games. The demo horse was built on top ...

Decided to record myself test riding the work-in-progress canter and jumping animations! I wanted to show you the new reins too but for some reason they didn't work in the free camera recording, will have to delve into that problem later. π
Also pls don't look at the character's hair she's going through a rough phase okay.

Adding more sounds to the horse and rider to make them feel more alive! In this video you can hear a new snorting or huffing sound on each canter stride that gets louder the faster the horse goes. In the future the loudness will also be tied to the horse's energy level and overall character (ie hot blooded horses might snort more when excited).
Ideally I would like to minimize the amount of UI elements the game uses to communicate about the horse to the...
