The update contains several bug fixes:
- Music sounding weird or starting over when running fixed
- SteamVR should no longer open when starting the game
- Glitching through gates and stable walls should no longer be possible
- Horse rental options will no longer repeat two days in a row
- Anti-aliasing setting not doing anything when turning on TSR fixed
I need some feedback on the dressage controls before releasing the dressage lessons at Plainbelle, in case thereβs need to adjust the controls.
Those of you who have tested out the dressage commands (you can study them from the βRoad to Grand Prixβ book that opens after completing the basic lessons), leave your feelings about them in the comments of this post!
2024-10-12 17:19:45 +0000 UTC View PostA small update has been released - you need to close the game and might need to restart Steam for the automatic download to begin.
There is confusion about how to get the buses to work - for some players the schedule opens as a blank blurry screen. This should not happen and has now been fixed. To get the buses to work however, you do need to find the info at the school about which buses go where, by inspecting the interactable items. You might need to i...

Please only report bugs in the official Steam game with this form, not bugs in the demo!
The first build of Tales of Rein Ravine Early Access should be downloadable on Steam within the next 48 hours! β€οΈ
As a warning - due to the amount of areas in this one versus the demo, the first build is expected to have at least some minor bugs. If any are found I will be fixing them as soon as possible after the release. If you want to wait until there is a stable version, you might want to wait for an extra 24 hours or so after the first build has gone live...
Hello guys! I'm still dealing with some delays with the launch π I'm now working on the game basically 24/7 so I can get it out as soon as possible, so I haven't really even had time to post here (and at this point I'm scared to accidentally spoil too much about what I'm doing!). However the Early Access Trailer is now here - this is also coming to Steam today.
In Early Access you will be able to visit the college (which is closed for the summer though) as well as two barns in Rein ...
Edit: I realized after posting this that there's a typo in the poster lol. It's supposed to say "facilities" not faculties XD

Tales of Rein Ravine Steam page is now available for the game to be wishlisted:
2024-07-20 01:01:48 +0000 UTC View PostThe complete demo (build 1.1 with competitions, 4 horses, and some bug fixes) is now out for everyone. It can be found on THIS old post. The installer files in the post were updated to new ones.
Regardless of what version of the demo you might have played in the past, if you are still playing it I recommended updating to this version as some common bugs were fixed in it. If you have a previous version install...
2024-07-19 05:30:16 +0000 UTC View PostAs I wrote to you a few days ago, the Steam release originally planned to release this Friday is experiencing at least a 2 week delay. Currently the earliest release date looks to be the 2nd of August, given that the Steam page is approved during this week. It already went through the approval process once but failed, and each time you submit it, they take a few days. More info will be posted as soon as I know.
The first release of the official game will be mainly focused around the new...
2024-07-17 10:59:39 +0000 UTC View PostA small detail I added a while back but forgot to share with you - horse getting wet when in water. The wetness stays for some time after exiting water. If a mechanic involving the horse getting tired is ever added to the main game (currently there is no such mechanic) this feature would be used for the horse getting sweaty as well.
2024-07-15 08:59:38 +0000 UTC View PostThe Rein Ravine Steam page has now been submitted to the approval process, which takes a few days. The page should be public by next Wednesday at the latest. I wanted to show you beforehand what it's going to look like! What do you think?
For the current publishing date I put 31st of July, since it's mandatory to put some date, but on the public page it will show up as Coming Soon.
I realized when filming this screen capture that the Popular Tags section doesn't show "Hor...
2024-07-13 20:57:13 +0000 UTC View PostI'm so excited to share you a snippet of the dressage showing feature! A while back I posted a video about the dressage lessons, and at that time already had in mind that the same system should be easy to adjust for tests as well.
In dressage shows, just like the showjumping ones, you aren't allowed to use the riding meters - stride length, gait, or even the roundness meter. Paths for the dre...
2024-07-13 03:34:59 +0000 UTC View PostThis is a start of a new Patreon series where you, the Rein Ravine community get to vote on which visual content you prefer! I say visual content because the voting will mainly concern graphics - animations, models, textures, widget logos, etc. The winning opinions will be taken into account as guidelines in the visual direction of the game.
Today's voting: Does this canter animation look better to you than the one in the previous video (2024-07-11 01:34:57 +0000 UTC View Post
The riding UI is done!
On the right hand side you see a new input widget, now with graphics instead of text like in the demo. This new widget does not only tell you which riding cues are currently used but also whether you used a short cue or a long cue.
What is the difference between short and long cues? The half-halt aid in the demo is considered a short cue - a quick tap of the halt but...
2024-07-02 01:32:22 +0000 UTC View PostContinuation to my last two posts about the striding mechanic. The auto-striding has had some tweaks.
In my previous testing of this feature, a problem I noticed was that the horse would often bolt towards the jump at the last second, skipping one stride. To beginner players this sudden and unpredictable change in the horse's striding would be difficult as well as confusing.
After the latest tweaks, a normal auto-striding horse will try to find a suitable stride leng...
2024-06-13 01:17:57 +0000 UTC View PostShowing you the new striding difficulty setting! This feature was added due to the striding mechanic becoming a mandatory part of the gameplay. I've written about this decision on a plenty of earlier posts already, so I won't yap more about it this time. I recommend reading the earlier posts if you haven't.

2024-06-04 20:30:47 +0000 UTC View PostAddition to the jump striding mechanic! Since the realistic striding feature is no longer optional in the main game (though it does come with a difficulty setting) I've been trying to come up with the best solutions to explain it to the players who lack IRL riding experience.
This new green light indicator that I call "Hoofbeat" shows the current canter lead and the rhythm at which it hits the ground - the most ideal to jump would be at the beat. The indicator is mainly us...
2024-06-03 02:58:39 +0000 UTC View PostOne thing I've always found it unrealistic about horse games is that they let you ride a horse straight into a wall, without it reacting in any way. Here's some behind the scenes of a feature that makes the horse detect solid walls in front of it and turn away from them automatically. In the video I'm not turning the horse at all except when I switched directions. Trees are also detected and the horse will automatically try to dodge them.
I left the developer visualization on in case yo...
2024-04-27 10:11:22 +0000 UTC View PostThis horse is set to spook the solid log fences (jumps 5 and 6) similarly to the horse in the previous video.
2024-04-22 15:53:49 +0000 UTC View PostAnother post today! In this video you see a horse that is squeamish on fences (it's set to be scared of all the fences in the video) but instead of outright refusing, it tries to run out to the sides to avoid jumping. If you do get it jump to it also takes very exaggerated jumps.
There are a few ways the player can deal with this. For example, the horse will always try to run out to the side of it's canter lead. Keeping the horse "on the bit" by doing half-h...
2024-04-21 20:13:06 +0000 UTC View PostBefore watching today's video, I recommend reading my earlier blog post (LINK) about the cross country rules and jump types, if you haven't already. The video showcases the different jump types as well as the points system, that lets you choose riskier obstacles for extra points at some locations. Combination jump support (A-B-C etc) has now also been implemented into the racing system, as you ...
