A Dangerous Idea

It's finally done! I hope you like it. Thanks, everyone, for your input and support. YouTube ad money is officially gone (actually it's about $3.00 per day now, down from around $170.00 per day), so you're it right now. You're keeping the channel alive. I might also try live-streaming to see if that helps, and I may update and promote the DarkMatter store more as well. The good news is that I've surpassed 100,000,000 views (and I did it with only 140 videos).

This animation is the polar opposi...

Blasphemy

During the part of the animation when Jeffery talks about blasphemy, a storm rolls through in the distance, but the sun comes out when he speaks of weakening that control over the people. This will be the final post before the animation comes out, which should be soon (a day or two). It's almost done. It'll be around 22 minutes long, my longest animation ever. Animations like this would be totally out of the question if not for all of you, funding this time-consuming endeavor.

More relevant than a galaxy

I created this scene from Adam's life as Jeffery explains certain aspects of meaning. Hopefully the animation will be uploaded next week. I've been working on it everyday since my previous upload (which is why I've sort of disappeared from the internet), and I'm pretty happy with it. I've gotten around 16 minutes animated so far, and there's about 4 more to go. I'm thinking this will be the "season finale" of Power Corrupts. I know which direction I want to take the overarching story of the seri...

Setting Renders

These are some renders of a few settings I created for my next animation (you can read the script for it in my previous post here on Patreon). As there are a lot of back and forth conversations going on, I created entire rooms that could be viewed from any angle. Any paintings or drawings you see on the walls, were also done by me (not for this video, but as an artist, I have plenty of material to use, so why not use it?).

So far, I have eight and a half minutes animated and I'm really happy w...

Script for "A Dangerous Idea"

*Scene - Jeffery (older) walking with The Chronicler on a green field with a huge planet on the horizon*

Jeffery - You have no files on your progenitor, do you?

Chronicler - No, sir.

Jeffery - Let’s make some, shall we?

Chronicler - Of course.

Jeffery - He started out as an everyday, ordinary simulated human being.

*Scene - girl’s bedroom*

Adam - Okay, sweetheart, I’m heading out to work.

Girl - Bye, dad.

Adam - Be good for mama, and no vid...

A Dangerous Idea

The next major animation I'm working on is tentatively called "A Dangerous Idea" (Power Corrupts) and the render you see here is a setting from it, greatly reduced in size. I've rewritten the script at least 10x, and I'll post it on Patreon soon. In the old days, I'd finish the script and audio before drawing anything, because if the script or audio was a failure, the drawings would be for nothing. After years of experience, I have a good feel for what's feasible, so I allow myself to draw scene...

If Your Body Were a Religion

Here’s the final product of that script I posted last time. So far I’ve been able to keep to my schedule of posting every Tuesday this month. The animation I posted last week was a huge help to my channel, because TJ Kirk drove a lot of traffic my way. It didn’t produce much ad revenue due to the YouTube advertiser boycott. I didn’t make that one Patreon supported either, because it was purely for fun, cross-promotion, and made no real points. So, no money, ...

I'm going to start posting scripts. Here's one now!

First of all, thank you so much for your wonderful response in the face of this YouTube advertiser boycott. You're all carrying me through this, and it's difficult to describe how much I appreciate it. So, I'm just going to do my best to be worthy of it.

I know you care about this channel, because you've literally invested in it. So, I thought it would be a good idea to start posting scripts, before they ever become animations. That way, I'm not in as much of a vacuum. Our hundreds of minds ar...

Plans to help grow the channel

Since I've been at the mercy of YouTube's pressure to post more often, which is difficult to do as an animator, I thought of doing a little experiment. I've been working day and night on animating and writing. I'm going to try to post an animation every Tuesday in April. So far, I only plan to make one of them Patreon supported, so don't worry about being slammed.

The reason I have only one planned for Patreon support so far is because it's the only one that tackles actual points. The oth...

Major YouTube Controversy

In mid-2014, YouTube changed its algorithm in such a way that it dramatically affected channels like mine, animators who could only upload shorter videos infrequently. At that time my income from ad revenue, which amounted to a middle-class income, dropped by around 50-60% to a lower-class income. Of course, I could keep posting, but not full time, which meant maybe only a couple animations per year. So, I decided to try Patreon, and that really saved my ability to keep regularly posting on YouT...

If Muhammad Became the President

Once again, thank you for your support! Because I have far fewer patrons than subscribers, I’m able to read all of your comments and messages. When you add that to the fact that patrons usually have a greater interest in the channel than an average subscriber, I’m much more attentive to your suggestions, ideas, feedback, etc. So, by all means, let me know your thoughts so I can better shape my channel according to those who care about it the most.

Muhammad vs Milo

In this scene Milo denounces pedophilia in Muhammad’s presence, and Muhammad has a bit of an upset reaction. Sorry I haven’t been keeping you as up to date on my progress as I’d like, but there’s so many visual jokes in this animation, and I don’t want to give them all away.

Muhammad's Oval Office

Since several scenes of my next animation take place in the Oval Office, I decided to create a 3D replica of the Oval Office so that I could have an accurate depiction of it from multiple angles. As you can see, I took a few liberties with the decor.

If Muhammad Became the President

I wrote a script for another video with Muhammad disguised as Trump. Last time, it was for the debates with Hilary Clinton, but this time it would be framed from Trump's first month in office. Basically, Muhammad gets into confrontations with the media for depicting him, tries to institute prayer in school, has people killed, beats up Milo for denoucing pedophilia, marries a little girl, etc. Last time, I didn't put patrons in the credits, because I know some of you might feel differently about ...

David, Goliath, and the 200 Cyclops Sleeves

The next part of David’s story is usually quite abbreviated in Sunday School and baby bibles, typically ending with David defeating Goliath by slinging a rock at him. After that, however, David chops Goliath’s head off ISIS-style and parades it around. He doesn’t simply stop with chopping off heads, but moves on to chopping off the foreskins of his appointed enemies, the Philistines. The price of his bride, King Saul’s daughter Michal, was 100 foreskins, even though he already won Saul...

David Offers to Fight Goliath

In the bible, for forty days, Goliath stands before the army of Israel, challenging any one of them to fight him (he was nine feet tall). Saul and his army stands there like frightened children as this giant repeats his challenge for over a month, until David comes along bearing food and generally annoying everyone. David overhears Goliath's challenge & thinks he can take Goliath, because he often kills lions & bears with a single punch (not bad). Saul decides to basically bet the kingdo...

King David

This is the start of King David’s story, and his story has a lot of iconic moments from the bible, so I figured it would be good to give it the DarkMatter treatment. It could never be covered in one cartoon, so it has to be a miniseries. This fifteen minute animation only covers a few chapters, and I have around forty more to go, but I’m sure they won’t all need equal attention. I wouldn’t have even thought of doing it this thoroughly - as it’s a lot of work - if I wasn’t receiving t...

Unspeakable Horror

“Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.” ~1 Samuel 16:14

In this scene, God descends into hell (around 2000 miles below present day Detroit) to commission an evil spirit from Lucy Fur, who is able to provide Him with a truly horrifying newborn creature, delivered that very day, yet discovered nine months prior while being conceived in the deepest, darkest, depths of the netherworld. Indeed Saul couldn’t contend with God’s sick...

I'm working on the part of the bible in which God sends an evil spirit to torment King Saul. Any suggestions on who/what the evil spirit should be?

Whoa...hold it right there! Dis is a good heffa.

God commands Saul to kill all the Amalekite men, women, children, infants, cattle, sheep, camels, and donkeys. Saul saves some of the animals, however, to be sacrificed to God. So, because Saul didn't kill the animals right away, God rebukes Saul, sends an evil spirit to torment him, and rejects him as king.

A couple of you have pointed out that Saul is supposed to be tall & handsome, but I thought it would be funny to make him into a Joe Pesci gangster character who influenced the "...

The Horror of Your Desires

This is Episode 9 of Power Corrupts. Thank you so much for your support! The first season of this series will probably end with Episode 10 (not sure when that will be made), and then I will decide if it should continue. Your input will be valued and considered, as usual. Now, I’ll be working on King David’s story.

Revisiting an Unexpected God

I’m currently working on three animations: episode 9 of the Power Corrupts series (pictured above), a spoof of It’s a Wonderful Life, and the King David animation. The spoof was a last minute decision, but it needs to be done before Christmas, so that one will be coming out first. Since it’s just a simple comedic short with no significant moral to the story, I won’t make it Patreon funded.

The next part of the Power Corrupts series will be narrated from the perspective of the fut...

Plans for December and January

Pretty much everyone who responded to my previous post thinks it would be good to do the story of King David. Because it's such an extensive story, I'll have to create several scripts and a lot of characters and settings. That is far too much to have ready in December. So, I decided to simultaneously work on assets for the King David story while I animate the next part of my Power Corrupts series, which can be done in December, as many of the characters and settings for that are already drawn. Should I or shouldn't I?

I’ve been thinking of doing a video on King David, Solomon’s father. So, I went through 1st and 2nd Samuel (and a little bit of 1st Kings), and wrote a summary of each chapter. There’s tons of classic stuff in there that would be great to animate, like God tormenting Saul with an evil spirit, David and Goliath, and David peeping at Bathsheba and having her husband killed. The issue is that the summaries I wrote are approaching 10 pages, but the actual script would be much, much longer. To ...
