Weekly Update...

...I’m back and very excited for the week! Lots to do! But first two things I wanna share...

...I’m leaving town in a few hours and it’s looking like I won’t be back till this weekend (not sure when). I was really hoping to get the next page at least mostly done, but it’s not looking likely. ^^;

Taking my brand new sketchbook with me so hopefully I’ll still have something worth posting.

BORN pg 6...

...will need to be partially redone.  Panel 2 is a hot mess of tangents and panel 3 has a complete lack of energy when compared to panel 2.  Fortunately, it's just those two panels that need to be fixed.  Shouldn't take too long.

Will have the next page laid out later this week.  Will see if I can't get it finished for next weeks post.

Weekly Update 04.23.18

Thought I’d accomplished all my goals for last week, but alas, I shall have to redo page six of BORN. Not completely, just a couple panels. I have a few tangent issues to solve. I’ve always been bad at spotting tangents in my own work. Fortunately, I have friends to point them out for me. I’ll be posting the page in a little while so you guys can see it. Will have it redrawn later this week (I hope). Fortunately I don’t have to start from scratch.

...I mean, I want to finish this comic this year.  I'd only have to go back and redo five pages.  Hrmmm...

I may do the next page in full color just to see how long it takes.  Changing it from color to grayscale shouldn't take long.  We shall see.

New page of BORN should be up tomorrow. :)

...took waaayyy longer than I anticipated.  Happy with the result, but still, action scenes.  Only gonna get crazier from here on. :)

Quick update...

...just for fun before I take off. It’s always weird to try and draw just one part of the body that isn’t the head. As alway, exaggeration seems to be the key. This is definitely the least freakish of the butts I’ve drawn today.

Weekly Update 04.16.18

My taxes are done man! Only took a month and a half. ^^;

Back to business! This week the goal is to finish a page of Stress Relief and a page of BORN! The next page of BORN is all sketched out and ready for hard lines. The next page of Stress relief is about 50% designed (working on the detailed sketches). It’s taking me a bit longer than I’d like. Then again, it is an, uh...action scene. ^^;

...took all week, what with taxes and business travel, but it's done!  Need to start work on pg 5, but not before I begin work on the next page of Stress Relief!

BORN pg 4 Flats...

...the tedious part.  Fortunately, this is the stage where I can listen to an audiobook or a podcast, cause I don't have to concentrate too hard.

Been listening to some game sessions of the Call of Cthuhlu tabletop RPG and it's been a lot of fun!  Slowly piecing together some ideas for my own campaign.  Still need to order the book. ^^;

In Call of Cthuhlu the DM is called The Keeper.  That is so metal. :)

BORN pg 4 Lines...

...I think it's time to invest in Manga Studio.  I used to have an earlier version that ran like sledge on my old system.  That shouldn't be an issue anymore.  If I can do the line art in the computer that'll eliminate two steps in my current process.  That means more pages in less time.   Plus, being able to zoom in on the areas that I'm drawing will be much easier on my wrists.

Ya, I think I'll swing by the store today.

...as clean as I can get it in the computer.  One day I hope to be able to do the final line art in the computer and make my comics 100% digital.  That will save me a lot of time, but I'm not there yet.  I'm getting closer though.

My business trip got moved to tomorrow!...which screws up my weekend, but that means I can draw today, so expect the final lines tonight!

Born pg 4 sketch...

...business stuff and taxes are eating into my drawing time, so I thought it might be fun/interesting to post a full page progression step by step since I'm probably only going to get one page done this week (been using Stress Relief as my warm up this week so hopefully I'll accomplish something with that as well).

So here is the final rough sketch for BORN page 4.  Sometimes this is the easiest part of making a comic.  Sometimes it's the hardest, especially when there's a lot of act...

Weekly Update 04.10.18

I’m a whole day late on my Weekly update! ^^;

It was a busy weekend (and a busy Monday) but I did manage to get some drawing done in there. I need to finish the last of my tax stuff this week (small business owner and the comics biz on the side complicates it) so that will be taking up the majority of my free time. I also leave town on Thursday but will be back Friday (I’ll be taking my sketchbook with me).

Thought I wouldn't have any time for drawing yesterday afternoon, but turned out I had a couple extra hours.  Excited to get to the next page!  And the page after that!  And the page after that!  And the page...well, you get the idea. ^^;

Things are getting serious...

...got a lot done on the next page today, but tomorrow is going to be busy. Perhaps I’ll have this done on Monday. Fingers crossed!

Was a bit under the weather today. Allergy season hit me pretty hard, so I didn’t make the progress I’d hoped to. Still, the next page is designed! Just gotta draw it! 😙🎶
