I was chatting with a friend yesterday about how I'd been a little undecided about whether I was going to be including this next bit, on account of it not being strictly necessary, but I feel it'll have it's place in the end.

To be entirely honest, I'm not 100% happy with the page for a number of reasons, but any corrections I was making towards the end of production seemed to be worsening the situation. In all truth, as I said on the public posts, I'm not back to full strength yet, but at least I managed to finally complete this page and even do a dialogue correction on it while I was at it (just eliminated a repetition is all, nothing major).
I've also been working on a little backup thing that actually helped my overcome some structural issues I had in the relative near future, so yay for that.

Funny how things go.
Like I said last week, I was hoping to get far enough along on commissions to warrant working on Forest Tails again, and I actually did get to work on it a little bit yesterday, but my health has been declining again the last couple' days and I'm cutting back on work until I have my head clear of worries.
As a result, this page only has minimal corrections, but it works well enough as it is.

Just a heads up though, Marvin is not meant for the squeamish ones. While I realize you guys are used to Forest Tails being heavy reading, this "slice of life" bit is somewhat rougher than what I've shown so far (at least as far test audiences were concerned back in the day).

As I mentioned last week, I've had this little Marvin short story sitting around on my hard drive for years now.
You can see from the sketching and proportions how old this actually is. I did go in and improve the contrast and values a little bit, however only so far as to allow for easier general reading. These are in native resolution, so there is unfortunately no "larger" version out there, but then the level of detail on these doesn't really require that anyway.

The first try at implementing those new brushes I was talking about. It's suprising just how difficult it is to make a tree look believable in terms of lighting. I mentioned I'd been looking at Rhos' artwork for orientation and I know it's not immediately visible, but layering those leaves to look naturally illuminated is hard work >.O
