Forest Tails 174 in HD

As I already said in the public posts, it was definitely good of me to take a break last year, but it's also good to be back again.

With how hectic the later half of last year turned out, I eventually decided I wasn't going to stress myself about pages. For one thing, I was already trying to push too many things at once. Trying to get more work done to take December off didn't work out quite as well as planned, but what extra money I did bring in got us through the month. As a result, I didn't get to do any pages in November though, and having committed to the act, I lacked the energy to do anything besides put my feet up on the dash and autocruise through to January.

Another thing that I mentioned publicly was some doubt issues - mainly about the continuity of the story and whether this next bit for the arc close might feel a little hamhanded. I wrote the dialogue for this two years ago in my usual fashion (hanging out in a diner) and while it does what I want it to do, I can't shake the feeling it's not quite what it could be.

For a while I was considering whether I should cut my losses and just write a close here, but aside from having thrown so many curveballs and dropping hints and clues about other story details happening in the future, I also realized that my telling this story should not depend on my audience, but my willingness to do so the way I want to do it.

I'm pretty sure I said that before, so apologies for repeating myself :b I basically abuse this comment section as a quasi-journal.

Last thing I'll mention here, because it is Wednesday; I'm probably going to drop Thursday as a regular upload day in the future. As much as it's nice to have a schedule, working on commissions freelance means my schedule has to be flexible and sometimes I don't get everything done in time to get to do more than one page at the end of the month (or even no pages).

Sometimes I end up procrastinating, because I feel like having all week to produce one page is way more than enough, and then it gives me too much time to think myself into excuses as to why I'm not doing anything productive, so I want to see if by removing the regular uploads and instead uploading whenever I actually have a page ready, I can instead trick myself into producing more - it's probably overcomplicated and I lack the words to properly explain my reasoning, but we'll see the results of this experiment as we go forward.

I'll still only upload 4 pages a month, I just hope it's not too much of an inconvenience for you folks that it doesn't happen on a special day :b
