Ugh...

I'm pausing billing. Life isn't giving me time to work on Fantasy Valley right now, and progress is miserably slow. I'm sorry it's come to this. 

I'll keep billing paused until I can get Fantasy Valley off the back-burner and back into more serious production, but I can't make any estimates on timing at this point. I'm over-committed, and I'm trying to recover from the cost of sinking two years into a Patreon project that never took off.

No seriously... just saying hi!

I just finished writing the rest of Ch 10, and I'm excited to get back to the drawing board bringing it to life. I don't have a ton of confidence in my writing abilities, but I think it's going to be the most interesting and most dramatic chapter yet! Ooh! Aah! 

Not much to report aside from that, but thought I should post something and give you all another teaser image. Nothing quite like Sasha in the moonlight. How stale do you figure that lo...

I know, and I'm sorry.

Long time, no news. I'm sorry for that. Time has been very limited recently. The good news is that I am not sick, as some have been speculating (thank you for your concern). The bad news is that my time to work on Fantasy Valley is going to remain limited. I wish that wasn't the case, but we are a very small Patreon project and... life. 

Work is continuing whenever possible on the next chapter. I can confidently say that it's now more than half way done. What's left? A lot of story...

Sooo what had happened was...

Very short and very overdue update for you all. 

You know how we were all quietly hoping the new year would mark a turning point? A goodbye to the chaos and craziness of 2020? Let's just say 2021 has come out of the gates pulling no punches.

Progress.

Ch. 10 is completely outlined and in production. It's set to cover the next four days of David's story, but it should read fast since a good chunk of that will be rapidly-moving story bits and montage. Fingers crossed that means it gets made faster too... But you all know how that goes.

Work continues! 

Currently neck deep in day 4, the final day, of the next chapter. Things are going well!

It's a rather complex finale, not unlike the end of the previous chapter. Trying to pack it full of immersive moments and exploration while keeping the main plot compelling. Lots of illustrations, locations, and animations to experience.

Ruthless and vague teaser...

Mixed emotions.

Apologies for the lack of posts. I've been kinda demoralized by how much work this chapter has been taking, so I've avoided writing a Patreon post for a while. You'd expect me to have gotten a grasp of scope and project management by now, but I haven't. I'm sorry.

Work has continued. Chapter 9 is slowly but surely shaping up. I think this chapter has some of my best writing yet. However the writing has required a ton of art, which has been dragging me down.

A pile of progress.

Just a little post to update the progress bar! Work continues, it's going well, blah blah blah. You know the drill by now right?

Working my way through day 3, and it's going to be a narrative-focused day. David continues to get lucky at practically every turn. Starting to wonder if that's a positive thing, or if it's immersion breaking or unbelievable? Hopefully everything still feels earned.

Steady Progress.

TLDR: Making good head way on the art and code for the next chapter! 

Dev Rambling: I've continued to stray from the old method of two character sprites at opposite sides of the screen talking at each other like a puppet show, in favor of illustrating a few dynamic shots of the characters with variants for their facial expressions. I feel like this does a more interesting job of conveying the dialogue. 

And speaking of speaking... I'm trying to streamline my long convers...

I've been slogging through a long list of illustrations and screens for the explorable bits of the next chapter, and now I get to work on a few animated loops to reward David for his perseverance!

I was having a little trouble with the writing. The pacing was a little off and the tone wasn't working,  but I think I figured it out! Overall, the chapter is coming together nicely! I think it's gonna be a really fun chapter for you all.

Work continues on Ch 8 of Fantasy Valley! I'm progressing steadily through the second day of the chapter (entire chapter will cover the next 3, maybe 3 and a half days of the story).

We're almost half way there! Wahoo! (I'm hoping to keep this chapter shorter than the last, so that you all can experience it sooner!)

I'm struggling to find art I can share as preview images without giving away anything, so please forgive the lack of posts and sneak peeks.
