Flip the switch

Good morning!

I had driven to work early in the morning and talked to a friend. I could sense multiple frustrations that were pouring out and the more I expressed those frustrations, the worse I started to feel. I do know that venting can be helpful. I also know when it turns into a pity party.

As I went through my morning, I sent a few dart prayers to God about it. I asked for forgiveness and just to feel better. Pretty soon, I was on the phone with a patient who started to ask m...

Just for Today

Good morning!

This morning as I read in Psalm 32 yet again, I highlighted and rewrote key phrases. The beauty I find in the words I’ve read so many times just amazes me. How does it never get old?

“Lord, you are my secret hiding place, protecting me from these troubles, surrounding me with songs of gladness!...Your joyous shouts of rescue release my breakthrough……

I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life….so don’t make...

Determination

I started off this week talking about how my dad was focused and determined in life. I have my word for the year “determination” that just sparks me when I feel a little unmotivated.

I have noticed too that just a simple verse in the Bible can set my whole day in the right direction. People have asked me why something written a long time ago should be applicable to today. There are so many reasons! It is not only wisdom and fresh discovery day by day but it is the breath of God that...

Rule for Life Part 2

Developing a Rule for Life, as I mentioned yesterday, means having an intentional, conscious plan. Keeping God at the center and doing all for His glory will keep our compass set on the things that will ultimately bring us the most joy and Him the glory.

Pastor Seth talked about 5 things to consider when making this Rule for Life:

  1. Pay attention to your heart.  What brings you joy? What challenges you? God often speaks through these things. What time of day are you most ...

Rule for Life

One of the consistent things I love to study is our minds. Those habit tracks and neural connections make such a huge difference in how our lives play out.

Our pastor talked about the different aspects of what make us up: Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Social.

Each of these areas we can fine tune and work on and this is what I would call learning how to be “fit” in our wellbeing.

As I dissected each of these areas for me, I could see how certain areas are ...

Run the Race

It has been such a joy to read all the comments people have made about my dad who passed into eternal glory. He worked diligently and with all his heart but seemed somewhat effortless because of his attitude.

He broke down projects into small steps that he would do repeatedly. As a founding professor of a university, he also had to navigate other roles such as Director of Admissions. He would spend his day teaching, come home and work in his office calling prospective students. The door...

YOU made it a wonderful February :)

February is traditionally thought of as a month for Love. I was thinking back over my February and I have to thank you all for your Love, Support and Faithfulness in being here for me. Most of you know that my dad passed away into heaven last weekend, however I am still full of joy.

It made me think....most people would have a hard time saying that. I guess I can think about it from different viewpoints.....I know I will see him again, I know that he is in a better place. But, I also re...

High Heel Joy

Hi Patreon Fam!

I am trying to get back into my groove. My brother has been redoing our kitchen cabinets and he's using my Ring light to paint the cabinets. SO, all my beautifully outlined plans for filming are being pushed to another day. So, instead I thought I'd post a snippet of joy in my closet :)

How is your day going?

Contemplation

“The man who fears to be alone will never be anything but lonely, no matter how much he may surround himself with people. But the man who learns, in solitude and recollection, to be at peace with his own loneliness, and to prefer its reality to the illusion of merely natural companionship, comes to know the invisible companionship of God. Such a one is alone with God in all places, and he alone truly enjoys the companionship of other men, because he loves them in God in Whom their presence ...

Thank you

Hello On Fire Fam~

My dad passed peacefully yesterday in his home. He was on hospice for terminal cancer. Thank the Lord for his minimal pain and passing in peace at 1:35 am with my step mom, step brother, brother and me all with him.

He was SO anxious to meet Jesus. Every day he asked me when he could go home. Every day I told him, that's between him and Jesus. Jesus would come get him when it was time. And so He did.

Because of these last few weeks of focus on him, I did n...

Decisions Decisions

Decisions determine Direction and Direction determines Destiny.

I was listening to Pastor Craig Groeschel of Life Church and he was talking about predetermining our decisions.

That can make a big difference because each minor decision in life takes us in a direction. That direction leads to destiny.

Unfortunately, we don’t see the needle move much when we make one good decision and we don’t see the needle move much when we make one bad decision.

But we all know tha...

Life 180

There is a lifestyle nutrition program called Life 180. I love that. I love being “all in” and changing our lives for the better.

As people go through the program, they are given information on how to eat better and exercise, how to relieve stress and so on. As they put in all the key components, life does indeed change for the better.

It made me think of how God gives us this Life 180 approach every single day.

One of my favorite verses is “His mercies are new every m...

Trajectory Reset

As I have found that we are already 6 weeks into February, I thought about do I like the trajectory I am on this year? If not, how can I make adjustments that will put me on track?

I couldn’t remember what my “word” for the year was. I like having that “word” because it refocuses me when life becomes overwhelming or I feel I have too many options and directions to go.

I flipped immediately in my journal to the day I was praying and the word “determination” came to me...

My Dad is almost Home

Hello My On Fire Family,

You may be aware that my dad has been on hospice for a couple of months. The nurses are now saying he has a day or two left most likely.

My dad is so excited to meet Jesus and transition his spirit over to living on the other side and so I am encouraged by that and yet, it is still hard. I am spending every moment with him that I can.

Because of that, I need to postpone my livestream scheduled for tomorrow.

I will let you know when I can ...

ACTION

I’ve probably talked about this so much over the years, but it still applies to me now.

Living in the tension of doing and being can be a challenge.

I grew up with the mentality that I don’t need to do anything for my salvation. I just need to believe. This is true.

However, at the same time, we are supposed to “work out” our salvation with fear and trembling.

How can both exist at the same time? We know that we are saved from eternal death and damnation by bel...

Freedom

In mercy you have seen my troubles, and you have cared for me;

even during this crisis in my soul I will be radiant with joy,

filled with praise for your love and mercy.

You have kept me from being conquered by my enemy;

you broke open the way to bring me to freedom

into a beautiful, broad place Psalm 31: 7-8 TPT

“The crisis of the soul” is something I researched in the past but I find myself revisiting this often. The soul is often considered to be the...
