The Reunion, Chapter 2

Just finished the second part of the world famous (my dad likes it) wizard comic.

Really enjoyed writing and drawing this chapter. I think I'm going to make a longer text post about the comic and its direction. Would love to hear what you guys think!

More wizardy thumbnails

I’m well along on the ink and color for the rest of chapter 2, really feel like I’m enjoying this process of writing something continuous. Wanted to show you guys more of the thumbnailing process! It’s not so pretty to look at but I’m finding it invaluable in figuring out the pacing of the story. I usually have a visual in my mind if what the next page is going to look like, and the thumbnail helps me lay it out so I can refine it. Hope to have the rest of this chapter posted very soo...

Just wanted to show you guys a peek behind the process when I’m writing comics, in particular longer form (which for me is 2+ pages). Typically I have a rough script mapped out, and I mean rough, like shorthand in my notes for what the beats will be.

The thumbnail process which you see here is the most valuable part of the writing process, because it helps me visualize the flow of the comic. It also helps me to see how much dialogue I can fit on a page without it becoming too crowded...

Ok to be totally honest, I can’t tell if this one needs a rework. I struggled to find a way to write the sentence which was short and legible, and also the angle to frame the second panel.

I have to admit this was a bitch to draw lol. Lots of people in one panel. I try to measure in my mind the ratio of difficulty to draw : worth it for the punchline, and somewhere around the midpoint drawing this one I was forcing myself to get it done.
