Two bugs (redraw)

1/31/26

It was time for a redraw of one of my personal favorite beetle oldies. Originally drawn in 2022(‘23?), I think this may have been the first comic I drew which actually featured these anthropomorphic bugs which turn up in my work from time to time. I wanted to maintain the simplicity of the original, so the blocking changed very little- I did widen the shot in panel two a bit to give some room for the background to breathe. I tired to incorporate some dapple lighting through th...

Just trying to get back home

Back with a monkey comic for the first time in what feels like ages. Every time I come up with an idea about primates it feels like coming home for the holidays.

Hello my baby bugs. Nothing specific that incited this feeling, but I woke up with this desire to talk a bit about things rattling around in my brain. As I've hinted at in a couple posts, I'm in the middle of drawing and prep work for the biggest project I've done so far (more to come on that front very soon). Also I've been in a mood all January. Not a bad feeling at all, but I've had this weird looming anxiety about the new year. 2025 was huge for me, and I really felt the earth form beneat...

Never give up

Really enjoyed coloring this one, tried a dapple lighting technique on the grass that I’m pretty happy with. As always I have a lot of fun designing the eldritch horrors in these strips.

Never beating the nepo baby allegations

After receiving multiple requests yesterday as a result of posting the stack of sketchbooks which hold my comics, I’ve decided it would be fun to do a full sketchbook tour on video and highlight some key comics that happened along the way. Always fun to walk through the oldies. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’m actually completing a ton of drawings for a (SOON TO BE ANNOUNCED) project, and kind of flying by the seat of my pants to also make 3 new comics a week. Apol...

It’s on sight (classic redraw)

1/26/26

This was a really fun one to redraw (first one from 2023) because it’s still an exceptionally difficult three panel comic to choreograph. I wanted to rework the final panel to make it feel more alive and like a real still shot from a fight on Jerry Springer. Also, looking back at some of the cartoons and faces from the first version, it’s really crazy to think how much I was cartooning without any consideration for poses or anatomy. Still hold up ok

Someday soon I want to write a longer piece with these demon/necronomicon characters.

I’m gearing up this Saturday to be at TrippyCon in Miami FL! It’s my first time at a convention in Miami even though I live here, so I’m really excited to get the chance to meet some more comic artists in my local scene.

I’m working overtime completing art for something BIG I’m very excited to announce very soon. Please excuse the vagueness and maybe sparse posting for the next week or so, but I promise I got something cooking you guys will enjoy.

Really happy with the art on this one. Wanted to especially give some attention to the details like the ocean and the reflection in the iPad.

Coconut crab redraw

The difference between these two feels especially dramatic. I had to scroll way back on my iPad to find the original, which was actually right around the bat comic I recently did a redraw for. Solid era for ideas, but I clearly didn’t have all my technical faculties at the time. Really happy with the vibrance of the new one

First time Ive had the need to draw a space background since the Flyer. I am so locked in right now and hoping to get a bunch more comics to paper today and tomorrow to give myself some space for other projects. Two cups of coffee, no shower

Drawing something from different dimensions is challenging to say the least lol, and yet I seem to keep coming back to the theme. I think the actual character design didn’t quite match what I had in mind but I still think he came out cool.

Happy new year beetle gang!!! I actually drew this one before I left town for new years but forgot to share it. I just drove home 11 hours from North Carolina to Miami last night. My eyes look like Steve Buscemi from staring at the road that long and also I ate 2 burgers at different points in the drive. Now I’m back home packing up some orders and drawing the first comics of 2026. Love you guys!!!

Really enjoyed the color on this one and experimenting a bit with painting the explosion/fire effect. Currently posting this from the airport, I’m sitting at my gate and they are blasting Christmas music so loud I hear it through my noise cancel headphones

I’ve been having fun redrawing these year one comics for an aesthetic update now that I have a bit more knowledge on linework and color usage. This was on my list for a while to redo, although I think the original still holds up okay. But I’m really happy with how some of the lighting came out. Like the glow on the faces of the people in the second panel, Something I was clearly going for on the first attempt but was outside my comfort zone at the time.

I’m trying to keep my head down and get a bunch of comics to paper to backlog through the new year! But let me tell you I could use a week off. I’m starting to dream in three panel comics at this point

For those less familiar with marine biology lore, this is actually the physical difference between male and female anglerfish. I had this idea, or a vague version of it in my notes for a while. Today I’m doing a bunch of commission comics for the Atlanta Falcons, and another run of comics with Warby Parker! I’m excited to share those because they’re coming out pretty sweet. Since the Falcons season is unfortunately coming to a close, I might also make a post on here to sho...

As is the case with most of my comics, this served as a vehicle to be able to draw a mouse driving a forklift holding a block of cheese. Surprisingly this is the first time I’ve drawn a forklift but I can assure you it will not be the last.

Heyyyyoooo I’m back from vacation! Had a lovely week in Lisbon where I also got engaged to my incredible girlfriend (now fiancée) (bonus pic attached lol). I also ate my body weight in food and wine, got to see a bunch of cool historical sites and touristy activities. All around it was nice to get away from my desk for a while. But now I have returned and I’m back on my grind! Wanted to make a comic which featured a basking shark which I saw in a museum. I love filter feedi...

Okay onnneeeee more comic before I depart lol. This idea had been sitting in my notes for a while and I couldn’t really figure out the hurdle of drawing a video transitions in a single comic panel. I found a YouTube video with a compilation of the HOTTEST video transitions from the 90s but it was still tricky to find something that worked well as a still image. Ended up using this star wipe rainbow effect which I think came out pretty funny. I might be showing my age here but...

Hey baby gangsters I got another comic for you before I fly out to Lisbon tomorrow! It’s going to be my first time in Europe and one of only a couple times I’ve ever left the United States so I’m very excited and a bit anxious. Wanted to make sure I still had some backlogged material for my time out of town so I’ve been workin overtime to get these comics in the books. Of course I can’t ever come up with something simple lol it’s gotta be something with like 15 peop...
