Just wanted to show you guys a peek behind the process when I’m writing comics, in particular longer form (which for me is 2+ pages). Typically I have a rough script mapped out, and I mean rough, like shorthand in my notes for what the beats will be.
The thumbnail process which you see here is the most valuable part of the writing process, because it helps me visualize the flow of the comic. It also helps me to see how much dialogue I can fit on a page without it becoming too crowded. My Achilles heel tends to be adding variety to the panel layout from page to page, but you’ll see in this second chapter as well as the first that I try to sprinkle in some variety so it’s not so plain.
I’ll be posting these first 4 completed pages shortly!
