lindbride - kobold concepts

as mentioned in the first post i made about lindbride with the stock portraits, one of the main characters is a kobold butler who manages the 'upper house' for the lindking and queen. no name yet, but i've got a pr solid idea of his personality: very proud of his position, happy to serve his king as best he can. has been under the lindking's service for many years, his lifespan elongated by his being favored by the king and benefiting from his magic

there's an element in the lindbride story concerning 'lesser' species, like kobolds, being taken under the lindworm's protection; part of his vision is to build a kingdom from the ground up that favors non-human species of all sorts. the kobolds are the foundation of this future, and this particular colony has been serving the lindworm for a handful of generations

while the lindworm's design takes heavy influence from larger skink species, i found myself wanting shapes more reminiscent of geckos (fat-tailed, leopard) for the kobolds. the butler's deviates for the aforementioned magical reasons. what's seen here definitely isn't close for final designs, to any extent, but i'm enjoying some elements so that'll give me a direction to go in

these concepts were actually done in my sketchbook a few weeks ago; i brought them into sai and fiddled so they looked a bit better to post here. lucky that the lindbride story won out for this month's poll! but obviously there will be more than just these as i focus on it for development uvu
