Lakeside Tower (Captain)

Every now and then you spot pairs of yellow eyes watching you, or a bushy tail appear in the very peripheries of your vision, only for them to immediately disappear amidst the cold mist that seems nigh omnipresent in this accursed place. The land itself seems sick and twisted - dead, even - changed by some dark power. You'd think it shouldn't be capable of sustaining any animal life, and yet if the howls you hear in the distance are anything to go by, the local wolf population is doing rather well for themselves.
Finally, the forest thins and you arrive at the foot of a small hill overseeing a lake. At the top of it sits an old tower, which is the only memory of a small manor that once stood on that site. The cold stones look grim in the dull light of the moon, while the dark gaps of ancient arrowslits appear to you like sets of black eyes in the tower's wall, hostile and oppresive. In one of the windows on the highest floor, a narrow streak of light appears to be bleeding through a crack in a courtain - a bright, vertical iris holding a silent watch over the area.
