I've been working for my company for a year and a half, and in the last 7 months I found out that they had been underpaying me compared to my co-workers. I was being paid 300~500yen less than them per hour even though we have the same position/job title. I later on found out that I was put into a category of "assistant" that turned out doesn't exist as an actual position in the company (and was not mentioned in my contract), it was made up by my manager and I was never informed and neither were my co-workers. My manager tried to justify my low pay by saying I'm an "assistant" but I was still doing the same amount of work as everyone else. I went on to have a meeting with my manager to challenge my unfair treatment. They went ahead and laughed at my concerns and downplayed the work I've been doing. They also tried to gaslight me by telling me that I shouldn't be talking about wages with co-workers cause "they might be lying".
So basically I've been taken advantage and misinformed for a year and a half and they tried keeping me in the dark about it hoping I wouldn't talk to my co-workers. It has been very tough emotionally and a blow to my self worth.
I'm currently in the process of quitting my job. I hope after all of this is behind me that I'll have the motivation again to keep drawing and working for myself.
I hope you can understand now why my last few months have not been very productive when it comes to art.
I'm always grateful for your support and in the coming months I'll appreciate it more than ever.

Japan has the shittiest working culture and especially having the tendency to treat foreign employees much worse. All the best in your future career after this one, and your art is just too good to lose and i truly hope you'll never give up on drawing any time sooner.

I picked up on some of the things that went around there though. Needless to say, i don't work there anymore. Judging by the way you described it, it's their loss. You will always find a better position than what you are currently in. I hope a better job will recognize your resume. My sympathy for you. You are an amazing person not just in art to me.

The Jamaican Dollar and the Japanese Yen are almost identical in terms of conversion value and the Jamaicans treat both Chinese and Japanese individuals with great respect. Assuming you never state to anyone at all about your sexual preferences or your artwork here, it would be an interesting place to stay and make a new life here.
