Hey everyone,

first Dev Update for Chapter 7.
I started the development of Chapter 7 roughly 3 weeks ago. As usual, I plan the scenes, order them within the chapter, and so on.
I try to keep Chapter 7 smaller than Chapter 6 (yeah, yeah, I know...) because I don't want another 8-month-long dev cycle.

So one focus was to decide which scenes would be in this chapter, and which could be part of a later Chapter.
I'm not fully done because I have a few scenes that I can "move" ...

Chapter 7 - questions MC should ask his parents

Hey everyone,

I have a 2nd scene with the MC's parents planned for Chapter 7 (comparable to the scene in Chapter 5) where the parents can answer questions the MC (the player) might have.

I have the stuff I have in mind covered, of course. But I learned from the CH5 scene that a player might have more or different questions. Questions the stupid dev didn't think of or thought were self-explanatory (because he's lacking the view from outside).

It includes a few minor fixes in the code and some renders, but nothing game-breaking.

Chapter 6 - Beta version and release schedule

Hey everyone,

I just sent out the links for the Beta version to my testers.
This version is pretty much complete. It's just missing an animation at the end of the game, the renders for the gallery, and the thumbnails for the achievements. The functionalities are implemented, but there are "just" placeholder images as of now.
This will be my work for the next few days while the testers do their thing.

I don't really expect a lot of broken things, so hopefully the Beta phase ...

This week was rather busy with stuff unrelated to the game, like a national holiday and a 2-day business trip.
My goal was to finish the work for the last scene before the chapter finale before the business trip and then to see how far I could get after coming back.
I finished that scene on time and also managed to code everything for the chapter finale.

Chapter 6 is now "officially" bigger than Chapter 5 in every regard. This week, it has passed the CH5 count for static renders and script lines (animations quite a while ago).

Not sure what that says about the quality of my planning, as I thought it would be a bit smaller (No, thanks, no need to tell me - I DO know, I just choose to ignore it :-P).

A pretty productive week lies (almost) behind me. With most of the RL shit getting better, and yes she is making good progress according to the docs, I find it easier to sit down and concentrate. And I have more time for it, of course.

Overall, I'm pleased with the progress, especially because the next 4 days will be busy with family stuff.

This week, I started work on the last scene before the chapter finale.
It will be a pretty long scene, so I expect it to take me at least next week and the one after that to move on to the chapter finale.
At least, the chapter finale isn't planned to be as complicated as the one of Chapter 5 or 3 with the cinematics at the end.
So work on that should go faster than the work on the previous chapter finale.

Dev Update - 2025/04/04

Hey everyone,

Seems a bit on the lower side but considering that I also wrapped up the largest test build of this Chapter this week, I'm pretty happy with the progress.
Said test build is most likely the last one before Beta and it's already on my dev branch, so it's basically finished outside some polishing.
