Curtis' transformation takes a step forward - and it feels worse than hair growth.

I did some timing on how long it takes to do the hair/fur effects on the comic. 3 and a half hours just doing the hair. Now I kind of wish I didn't know how long it takes because at the time of making this post, his shirt is still on O.O

Anyway, the pages seem to be coming along okay but the more I try to change things up with the panel work the more trouble I end up having with the page composition...

Were's First 7 Teaser and Process

This page hardly deviated from the original thumbnail sketch which makes it a good example to share my process! What we are looking at is panel 2. After the sketch is cleaned up, the sketch is lined with clean line art. 

Then the lines are filled with flat colors of the character under normal lighting conditions. For hairy characters like Curtis, his skin is on a different layer from his beard and shirt, eyes, teeth, etc...

What started as a new profile picture ended up getting lower and lower trying to fit as much as I could make work and this is as far as I was willing to go. It makes for a really great phone wallpaper!

Tier Change-up?

So I talked with a more experienced Patreon using friend about what they think my tiers should look like. They suggest that, because I am so new to the platform, I should lower my highest tier to 3 dollars and then lower my middle tier to 1 dollar. 

Later on, once I have earned my following, I can bump up the 1 dollar tier to 2 dollars and the 3 dollar tier to 4 or 5 dollars. Obviously I'm a bit hesitant because eliminating the highest tier now would mean less for me BUT it might a...

Were's First 6 Tease

I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do with this comic and Patreon. In total honesty, I have 6 more pages fully rendered. I want to include them as rewards for patrons, but I also don't want to lose the buffer that I have because coming pages are taking longer and longer to complete. If I lose the buffer then page release dates will be sporadic and I like having a set release day because I have enjoyed comics that release weekly as they give me something to look forward to.

So this would be Curtis attempting to understand what goes on during the changes. There are 3 phases of change that will be explored in the comic sequence. Human to beast-man, beast-man to man-beast or a were, and then the were to feral. More transformations, more to love!

Stretch

Same friend in the same VRChat world waking up and stretching. You could call it a follow-up. This is a lineless painted style. I have a bit of experience doing this but I have a lot to practice on still. 

I wish I could afford to live in my own place and have the freedom to sleep nude lol. Thank all of you guys, gals, non-binaries and more for supporting me and making that dream a little closer to reality!

Shockingly one of my more popular pieces. As a non-car person, I forgot how passionate car people can be! One of my more detailed pieces with about 30 layers used! I can think of many more layers that could have been used lol

Ghostbusters 2

I added "subtle" easter eggs to this one. The werewolf on the left is a Halloween prop that foreshadows Curtis becoming a werewolf. And the Halloween Fest banner behind them has a censored year because I wasn't sure that I could have them go to a Halloween party unmasked in 2020 lol

Ghostbusters!

I've been holding onto this one since the original Ghostbusters drawing I did. I was worried that people would be iffy on seeing the characters as kids but that logic is flawed. We were all kids once. Anyways this is the photo they recreate as adults! I tried my hand at that 'gross, yellowed, flash lit photograph from many years ago' look for this one and I'm real proud of it! 

Diner

Jeremy and Curtis would head to the diner after work to shoot the shit before heading home for the day. Lately, however, Jeremy has noticed a change in his lifelong friend. He'll do anything he can to help, but Curtis just isn't talking.

Two images that preceded the "Too Hot" piece that is public. These are part of the original transformation sequence that would become the comic. The idea of doing full size illustrations for the long and detailed sequence I envisioned was not time efficient and was scrapped.

Kind of oxymoronic if you ask me. I like my transformations painful and traumatic but my colors vibrant and bright!

Too Hot

Lumberwork

Jeremy doesn't get enough time in the spotlight so this one was made deliberately for him. See Curtis way in the back there? He's tiny for once lol. This was a challenge to myself to do some perspective work and some overcast lighting. A real changeup for me.

I should learn how lumberjacks work if I plan to write about them.

A Minor Threat

This one was a lot of fun to draw. I enjoy lighting and shading the most out of the entire illustrating process and enjoyed the challenge of drawing the blades of grass in and out of the shadows. It created a sense of depth that I was soooooooo satisfied with.

Fun fact: This piece was done with a confrontation to a witches den in mind. The clouds in the background are in the shape of a witch on a broom. It's not supposed to be super hidden nor super important to the piece, I just don't know if anyone noticed it haha
