Mortal Kombat fighters all have supernatural strength and durability. No average guy can just get back up and keep fighting after getting his ribcage obliterated and his skull completely crushed- but you know how it is.
If you want to take down a target without all that hassle, you need to get the upper hand via something underhanded. Ambushes work well.

The upside of failing to subjugate a Succubus is that (usually...) they won't kill you. Not outright, anyway. Succubi are beings of pure pleasure, after all... getting dominated by one might not even be that unpleasant 😉

Some warlocks try to trick the Succubus by appearing to playing into their strengths. Fighting the Succubus nude usually just makes things MUCH worse for them, though.

Ah, to be a budding young warlock again- just coming to grips with the basics of simple demonic pacts. The first few pacts are extremely rudimentary. Imps are cowards, and the mere process of the summoning is usually enough to make them beg for their lives. Voidwalkers are a little more sturdy, but only a little. They are the smallest wisp of void energy, barely bound into a form with little control. With a warlock's dominion over shadow magic, controlling them is generally no issue.

I'm not positive that this training is really doing anything helpful for Liara, other than maybe getting her pain tolerance up a little bit. The skill disparity in CQC between her and Ashley is just so large that, well, this keeps happening.
Truth be told, Ashley could keep submitting her theoretically forever, until she gets bored. And she's having a lot of fun, actually.

You know what, Bea has been having too easy of a time beating up on Ash Ketchum. Too easy to take down the guy who's just spent his entire life wandering the world collecting weird animals to do all the work for him.
