Queers & Comics conference in SF!

Watch the conference I attended last april for the panel "BIG BOYS: Bears & Body Images" from the 2017 Queers and Comics Conference. With great artists Ed Luce, Jeremy Owen, Steve MacIsaac, Don Chooi, &E Salvador Hernandez.
My english is terrible, all the more I was intimidated & this was my first trip ever to the States! :-) 

Drawing characters #27 (step by step)

The main thing to see is the change of paper: it's crazy how the very light graphite I use to sketch takes on that one! 

Actually I always say I use 3 different values in the majority of my artworks, but it's not true: I use 4. The very light value for sketching, and another light one, a bit darker, you can mainly identify here in the shading stage (last one) on the left side, the lower lip, for example.

Drawing characters #27

This is a quick test for the final rendering I want for the comic. I used a darker graphite value than usual and a very thick grainy art paper, which garanties a good support of the graphite tools, all the more when working on dark & heavy areas (trust me: some papers just can't handle it!).

I'm gonna confess a huge problem I still have: the end result live is really impressiv to see, but when scanned it's losing lots of its quality. I still have no clue to improve that, so I'm gonna deal ...

Drawing characters #26 (Step by step)

This times, that's the background popping up that's striking. Actually this background is the set for the first chapter of the incoming comic. That's what I've been practicing bamboos, jungle here & there. ;-)

The face was kinda hard to draw, difficult to stay true to your character in such perspective. It doesn't show that much here but I had to rework it several times.

I saved the last study for this character right before starting the  production with the final tools & paper next week. 

This pose was kinda the top hard to draw, perspective of the head, legs, the anatomy of the ass, balls seen this way, etc. A very good exercise!

About the background, I improved the anatomy of the bamboos as I was widely criticized with the shape of the ones when he's getting touched against some bamboos in the previous weeks! :-D

Drawing characters #26 (NSFW)

I saved the last study for this character right before starting the production with the final tools & paper next week. Now I have a precise will for his cock, uncut, hard & curvy, his ass, hairy, some beauty spots.

Handy Kissin' (step by step)

In the very early stages I knew I wanted two different guys, so we ended up with a smooth darker skin guy kissing a very hairy scruffy dude. It shows at the hair step, then the shading.

I'll keep that in mind when coloring them later.

New practice of a duet, not singing but kissing, hehe! This pose was especially perfect to study the hand poses on one another.

Once again it was supposed to be a sketch, but I finished it. That means I have the step by step for you, my dear patrons, coming right away. 

I also plan to give 'em colors, probably for a forthcoming special occasion. ;-)

A quick drawing to start of the month, practice duet, as there's gonna be lots of body contact in the forthcoming months!

Usually I rather finish everything, but I like some lines unfinished, sketchy for this one.

This is the occasion to see him all smooth, haha! Don't get me wrong but I really rather him with all the curvy hair all around, although it takes lots of time ;-)

As the previous post, this artwork could be a solid promo poster for the comic he's starring into. That means I might add a background & colors to the drawing. And then update the step by steps. We'll see!

We finally get the whole package, soft and VERY uncut XD I needed his cock to look different from the other one. Actually it's gonna be CURVY when hard, but I have the feeling you wanna see what I'm talking about, so we'll work on that next week ;-)

The sketch was pretty accurate, I didn't have to make too many corrections afterwards, mostly the legs. 

His hairy body takes such time, but I really enjoy the result. I'm also glad with the pattern of the veins on his dick: almost like a lightning!

Okay, now I'm gonna go back to the other guy, and his very own cock (finally!), for the final day of june! :-)

Arm Anatomy study #03 (the return)

I went more for the flexing arm this time. Damn! It's not easy to REALLY understand how the whole thing works, but it's still pleasant to draw, and finding here & there the parts you know by heart, and how it's supposed to do here!

Oh and I can show more veins on the far right sketch, it's complex to do so cause veins are not always visible. 

The part I love to draw most is the hand. Oddly, cause it's also super hard. But let me tell you this: EVERYTHING is super hard in anatomy...

Glory Pride! (Step by step)

The shading takes a lot of attention here again. I should have drawn the lines betweens the colors, maybe, like I did with the shirt on the "Astonishing Pride!" artwork. Also the brown is too dark.

Well it was a good try, teaching some lessons for the practice of colored pencils :-)

I told you I had something really naughty in mind for the next try out on this character, so there you go! There's something insanely NSFW (like, porny!) in this image while being SFW (sensual!). And that's exactly what I was going for, so I'm happy with the result.

Okay I'm not done with the guy, I gotta study more of his... anatomy. :-P

The main stages of this creation. What's remarkable with such character is when the hairy body pops up, it's almost like the shading pops up! I had a real pleasure making this hairy butt :-P

Legs anatomy study

I knew I had to sketch this at some point, finally it's here!

The point is pretty interesting: you follow anatomy references and when you start to finalize a drawing with your own style, like with the one on the right side, the shapes you've been used to see & draw before suddenly make sense! It's really a cool exercise, I hope to keep on doing some in the future, although it's gonna clearly BUSY! :-)

I lack of practice drawing black guys & this one is a great  training. I had a BLAST performing the shading here, really heavy &  long to do, plus the hairy parts, but I'm happy with the final version.  And God knows it was not the case with the original sketch hahaha!
