LUST: original artwork for the cover

You saw a glimpse of this on my promo shots & pics, but here's the real thing, in HD, for you guys. You can expect a detailled step by step too.

I can confess I struggled a lot with the cover of this first LUST comicbook: so much pressure about it, do I draw the two main characters? How are they acting? Etc. At some point I wanted to recreate the famous scene from page 16 with the use of the tie, but I changed for something more sensual, intimate.

The other big deal was the coloring!...

BIG finale step by step

This is the final step by step for LUST chapter one. And this is very special of course, I had to modify my usual stages to fit that giant panel with all the details. After the sketch I went from top to bottom (hem hem), the very last step was the black suit. This for the very convenient reason: to avoid the spread of black graphite everywhere, even with a sheet of paper under my drawing hand! 

I just had to do so for the very first panel of the very first page of the second chapter, hehe...

Meetings & signings next week at the  BIGGEST comiccon in France: le Festival d'Angoulême! 😃 I'm invited not  to one but TWO booths! He's more bulk & fit than what I have in mind, I gotta pay more attention next time. So, the scan is once again blurry, I had to filter this image too, I really gotta figure out what's going on.

On a personal note, some of you may know this, I live on a tropical island called La Réunion, on the south eastern coasts of South Africa. We're expecting a hurricane called Berguitta tomorrow. We may get network, phone cuts, so don't worry if I'm off for some days, nothing abnormal. ;-)

I drawn this yesterday and could scan it at night, just to realize it was blurred, although the graphite original is not. I hope my scanner is not having trouble... so I had to use a filter to correct this one, not great but will do.

LUST chapter one print in progress!

YES! First big news to announce, and first to you my dear patrons, is that the comic sees its first chapter getting printed: the very first comicbook will be available at the end of the month!

There you see some pics I made of the test version, the one that allows me to give the greenlight to the printing of all the copies. I'm very happy with the result, I worked hard these past weeks to make it happen and I can't describe how I felt when holding this within my hands!

Turn my Back (step by step)

About this panel, the biggest work was the jungle, for sure! I wanted a frame for the guy, showing he was going to the background, where's the light.

The other difficult part was the pose, all the other stages went smoothly, like his skin, hehe! I wanted to get the on the go posing and, of course, a very beautiful bum showing off. I'm pretty happy with the final result, I hope you are. ;-)

Some more of him, the next guys I will study are black. It is really challenging to render black skin properly with graphite. I did some nice pin-ups before, but it's a bit different here for the comic, with the technics I use in mind.

Staring in the jungle (step by step)

For the last step by step of 2017, I show you an unsual stage, very important for the final rendering: the mix & balance between the raw final scan & the finished piece. 

As I scan myself with a classic flat scanner device, I got poor quality regarding the hard work on the paper: the light disrupt the black graphite & I often get blank spaces where there's none on the physical drawing. I can't explain to you how much that pissed me off during the first pages! BUT I managed to ...

Santa Deimos step by step

Here you see the detailled color process too.

The main stage to see is the lines, which is, as said to me Patrick, some kind of inking process. You can notice it's a bit different from my usual artwork: I challenged Patrick's style, mixing with my own. Here it looks a bit like I'm already performing some shading: like little lines to make some shadowed parts.

The hair step is remarkable too: lots of fuzziness hehehe!

Christmas signing!

Well, that's a last minute event, but I was up to, so why not!? I'm gonna sign my comicbooks all day long next saturday, right before the christmas celebrations! We'll see if last minute buyers will enjoy my stuff, hehe!

No LUST comic there yet, I started page 24 today & so pleased with the result. Just gotta draw the final BIG cliffhanger and the first chapter will be over! YAY! :-D

Rest & sweat (step by step)

Couldn't wait to show off this creative process, as we celebrate hump day & this panel from page 20 is the perfect fit :-)

As the previous one, we have a special SWEAT layer. I enjoy drawing this, although it's still more work, like hair, but it's worth the trouble when you see how it renders on the final piece.

I'm so into drawing faces & expressions, this one touches me especially, not sure about the reason, probably that insane mix of seduction & exhaustion!

Sweaty Baby (step by step)

I was so focused when drawing this panel from page 19. I remember thinking he's gotta sweat like he's in hell! That's why you get a special stage here "sweat", just before the shading and after the hair part.

Funny to see I was carried away with his face: I didn't stop at the lines step, you already see the beard, hehe!

A little memory from august last year! The point of view was a blast to draw and seeing this I'd like to do such again.

At that time I was enjoying doing some videos, it was really fun but took so much time, unbelievable! Anyway, you gotta forgive my terrible english accent XD And I'm still laughing at me saying "shaping" instead of "shading"!! I need to go to the States more to speak better, hehe!

Hold on tight! (NSFW)

Probably my favorite panel for them both. The pose was amazing to draw at the sketch part, I was really concerned with the one bending that much & the hands, but it went smoothly & all the other stages went well too. 

The hair part was HUGE, but as you noticed lately there's another layer that I did not separate here from the shading: the sweat! It's very fun to draw as you need to project in your mind the volumes of the body in order to draw the fall of the drops. Usually I do th...
