Next saturday is a day here in La Réunion island to celebrate local authors, inviting people to buy books created from the artists living here. So I'll be signing all my comicbooks at two important local bookstores, including one that sells my gay adult comic LUST.

A first try with both Class Comics characters. First process for these two. I separated the shading for each guy. This shows how the hair layer acts like somekind of shading itself. Maybe that's why I love hair body so much! Even if it take ages to draw, bah!

This is for "Project M". I have lots of interest for asian beauty, although I find their eyes pretty hard to render. There I find somekind of pattern shape that helps me drawing.
About the right sketch, I will get rid of the multiple earrings for the final version. Was worth giving it a try, hehe!

This is the panel I targeted to show exactly how I process my latest shading, having in mind black skin. You see 3 (!!) separated stages for the shading. Each one comes from a specific graphite lead and hardness.

For sure this had to get a step by step post. I had to rework the usual order of my stages with such important background. Sky, then the ocean, the waves crashing on his body.
The shading is tricky, 3 layers to make it, but you'll see better this in a next panel.
At that point I really enjoyed drawing the ocean: fully understood how I wanted to render it and how to get there.

You see the original simple graphite original work. Simple on the shading hehe, I made huge improvements since.
The colors were put quickly, but I had to go for highlights on the skin, it worked much better.
Okay, going back to the drawing board: eager to start the next panel for LUST chapter 2 that involves some tit play, hehehe!

When I draw this emotional portrait of the main character, featuring in a forthcoming page for Chapter 2, I knew I wanted to use it to promote the comic.
Don't ask me why I went for a weird compositing like it's part of an old movie, it just happened! The text isn't what he actually says in the comic, I just felt this fit the emotion he's giving us.

A throw back thursday from september 2016 with a male version of the Altamid people, related to the character in the Star Trek movie, Jayla.
I was very interested in her tattoos, the design and shapes it gave to her face. I wanted to try this out on a whole body. This was fun to do and I even played with it in the background (a bit obsessed, right?).

The layout is very specific here: it all revolves around the man turning. It didn't occur to me in the first comicbook to think this over double pages. I don't plan to do this all the way for the next episodes, there are some sequences that fit a double page layout, and some less, or not.

Usually, that's when you're close to draw the new characters in the final comic that you realize you're far from having studied them enough. Aka you should have done character sheets, damn it!

I'm into complex poses and strange angles for the heads nowadays! A little warm up from this morning before drawing page 6 of LUST chapter2.
I realized lately I really do love to use the hands in my posing. Many artists I've known see them as a nightmare to draw. For me it's begun to be essential to my art. They help me to reinforce the feelings, the action I'm going for. But that doesn't mean they're not hard to draw! At this point I must add: what is not?! ;-)
