Throw back thursday from nearly 3 years ago with a glimpse at the original basic sketch.
The gap between the sketch and the final version is striking, even to me LOL!

I had many ideas for this specific panel, but was limited to the specific pose needed for the hero, as he gotta get burned by the engine when magically turned on.
At some point I saw something more violent, but I finally went for something more sexy, can't resist to draw his back and butt! Not to mention it was cool the reunit these two, I got chapter one vibes! :-)

The two lovebirds matching perfectly here.
Although I love the illustration, it's been a little while I'm having issues with the highly visible texture of the paper through the shading and the colors. When you see the original drawing on the sheet it's damn gorgeous, but after the scan, it doesn't give it justice, even to the point to add a trashy look.
The good news is it comes from the paper, I started changing it to run some test. The bad news is I bought lots of sheets of this...

Yeah, right there!
Throw back thursday from nearly 3 years ago, I decide to add quick colors. I totally forgot about this artwork when suggesting myself to post an oldie as we're thursday today. Something's odd with the abs, and my shading back then, but I still like the overall thing.

Yeah you now this guy, just showing I worked lately on his fanart and it's gonna be finished this week.
Short story: I'm gonna loose my part-time graphic designer job, right before paying the print for LUST 3 and my trip to Paris + NYC for the Queers & Comics conference (in case you wonder, we pay it all there ourselves, all the artists).
The good news is I may have a job offer for june, fingers crossed. But I'm gonna have money issues by then. So, I finally open a com...

This is a trending hashtag on the social networks these days, so here's my selection.
It shows lots of emotions, I just love to create them ❤
In the middle features Deimos, the fantastic character created by my Superstar Artist friend Patrick Fillion for Class Comics. This is taken from the comic we're working on.
All the other faces come from my comic LUST, chapters 1, 2 and 3 which is just comple...

This one's for the back. I just love drawing backs, athough it's still hard to understand how so many muscles and bones actually work together! Speaking of back, you won't believe how insane the back cover for Lust comicbook #3 is!
The fire is looking so unreal, just like the beast smoke coming from it. During the early stages of production, I didn't know where the smoke monster should come from. Then I thought about the fire producing smoke, so here we go!

For those who didn't get the chance to catch the Lens of this a few days ago, this is an exclusive preview of the cover for my next printed comic. For those who did catch it, it's actually a reworked version, mainly the hand & butt touch.
I'm negotiating with the printer, I should grab some copies just before catching my plane for NYC may 16th, right on time for the Queers & Comics conference! Event where the 3...

The process went really smoothly here, although the posing is tricky. BUT, and it's a big butt indeed, I cheated a bit, turning the page in order to draw him like he was standing instead: soOo much easier to draw a full length body this way!
I especially like the way the smoke is marrying his body in this panel. It's less agressive (in the story the monster gets to Silk when he yelled at him to protect his lover), and is about to let him go, like he's no threat. It's oddly a calm view i...

I guess it's the first time I show you some raw drawing that has a layout part visible. Here you should of course have the sand ground connected to the rest, but I needed it apart in order to put it in the foreground / top of everything in the double-page in the layout. I finally changed a bit my creation, but you get the idea.
Also, I had to move the torn apart blanket to mix correctly with the other panels.
On another note, this huge panel was a mountain so high to climb in my h...

This is a very interesting StepxStep cause I struggled as HELL at the sketch stage. So that you can actually see numerous versions of the sketch before the rest comes up. Thanks to Patrick for being patient, haha! Sometimes you just don't have it.
Anyhow, I managed to draw this better and you can enjoy all the rest, the coloring etc.

Okay, I gotta confess I have a thing for this panel amongst the latest pages. I decided to use it as a new profile pic everywhere, so I gave it a night blue color boost.
As I'm finishing page 22, I'm already working on the layout of the comicbook #3, thinking about the cover. It's gonna embrace our two lovebirds but I picture we can guess the smoke monster in the background, hehe! Dunno if the idea will make it, I don't wanna spoil the content in the cover.
On a side note, I got s...

It's been a loOong time I thought I gotta show off a whole page in its sketch variation. So here we are, at last! It's always very odd to me seeing back the sketches when I worked so many hours to finish each single panel.
Technically, each time I achieve a sketched panel I'm like the hardest part is done. It's no false, but not entirely true either, cause I often need to rework the bodies, proportions or faces when going for the next stages. And at some point, the hardest part is to go...

Next month I'll be in NYC for the 3rd QUEERS & COMICS Conference! 😃
This time you can hear me and my fellow artists speakers at 2 panels:
- Friday 17th may 2:45pm: "European Perspectives on Queer Comics" with Markus Pfalzgraf, David Halphen, Aleksandra Kamińska, Blase Provitola, Martina Schradi.
- Saturday 18th may 11:00am: "Bears, Butches, and Boys: Representing Masculinity

I do love the scene, but this was hard to draw: the perspective being upside down, all the legs & arms mixed up. I wanted to feel like Silk is kissing the fingers, but with this view it's hard to tell. Not to mention the fire is much to close to them, but hey I wanted it to appear in the set, hehe!

I was still working on the character and I realized when scanning the sheets that the pose on the left is quite the same as the previous inked illustration you saw before. I must love the pose, I guess. I'm still searching the righ thickness for the ink process, where it's gotta be thick or not.
About the second one, I fucked it up trying to use a red graphite pencil to give color/shading on it and it's a mess! Well, you learn the hard way: by failing. XD
I'm soOo excited for the ...

The high climax from the sex scene gets a study on the creative process. It's been a while I didn't show seperated shading for the two bodies.
You also see the original drawing with its white paper background. I removed it digitally to show the dark graphite as night sky in the page. This I've done for many panels as it works great.

Look who's back! The perfect duo of characters created by my friend Patrick Fillion! The comic follows its path, slowly but still. A lil preview from the latest page, plus a step by step really interesting following later.
Have a lovely weekend folks, thanks for the support!

So, here's an announcement regarding the next page, actually the two next pages: for the first time in LUSTory, I 'm creating a double page that reads as one page. That means pages 20 & 21 gotta be published together. As you understand, it's gonna be a bit longer, but it's gonna be live by the end of next week. Also it matches, celebrates a huge turning point in the story.
Here's a little sketch from what's coming: lots of challenges for me on anatomy, poses, but you know I love tha...

This one was lovely to draw, for the obvious anatomy reason, hehe! I must have been carried away with the abs, the strong shading makes them pop more than it should, but that's fine, I guess. Still can't get enough of his smooth black body, which is rare with me as I'm much more into drawing hairy guys!
Have a beautiful weekend!

I'm getting closer to a final look & feel for this character. I also start to think about the backgrounds. Gotta keep it simple though, I'd like to have something dark with soft lights at some regular spots.
The prisoner suit gets a number, a tag. That makes sense.
The last sketch shows a disform in the body when going down, haha, that happens when you go fast and don't mesure proportions, it's a good reminder.
Have a beautiful week, folks!

One of my fav panel of the second part of their session. I enjoyed drawing the bodies, the muscle anatomy, I guess it shows.
A side view is always hard to get, it can be tricky, and when the head goes down like here, this can go wrong. This pose is also one of the rare times we see all the body.
I hope you enjoyed a nice sunday. Thanks for the support!
