Drawing characters #81

Another old ink test from last year that I forgot to post, but the colors were made yesterday. I see more how I wanna blend the shadows + lights.

 These are pretty close to what I have in mind for the coloring, still with an overall more dark mood. That's more this specific wish I need to think & work on.

LUST comic 04 - page 08 sketch variation

Just like you saw with page 6, this is the all sketched page 8. It's working without balloons, remember when I posted the whole chapter one with no balloons at all?

You see how I can go very detailling in the portrait panel 3 and very light on the background, like the water that just come to life at the final stage.

These are oldies from last april (!) that I forgot to post here. You definitely see how my inking did evolve. I guess these were done during a comiccon, how it's rough and I scanned the inked one without erasing the graphite sketch, ha!

I now got a clear view to where this comic will go, well start for sure. It's gonna be very exciting!

Cuming to your shore (step by step)

I had a blast drawing the big guy here, while surprisingly it was harder with the big butt offered right in front of him. I gotta say the water kills me at some point, plus the perspective.

Still I decided to show a tiny part of the waterfall there, discreet in the background. It's gonna play a role at some point, you'll see!

This is the newest version of the character with the white & black hair. I couldn't find a right way to handle such specific hairdo, so here I went for a huge tattoo all over his bald head, inspired by François Sagat, the famous french adult performer.

I really fancy this version, now I'm working on a full illustration all created with Procreate, it's gonna be great, will show you soon!

Drawing characters #78 (Black Vs. White)

Once again, an ink test & fashion on my Nimo character for the next project. Still traditional drawing & inking, only the black version is digitally enhanced.

No need to say I have in mind to try this out all digital with Procreate, as I told it's promising!

Very first steps on Ipad Pro & Procreate!

SoOo this is is a HUGE step for me, let me explain.

As you know I had to work part time for some months now and the company is willing to take advantage of my cartoonist skills (NOT what you see usually on Patreon LOL). I convinced my boss to invest in a drawing tablet, and I end up with a powerful Ipad Pro & Procreate to work with! I'm pretty lucky here, all the more I can have the device at home too in order to practice, hehe!

The deeper taste (step by step)

This is one of the panel when I'm so unsure until the very hand. I reprise several times the sketch part, and it was until the final shading bits I thought this one was okay.

I began to see how to render the water better too.

Overall it's gonna fit perfectly in the double page 08-09. Page 9 is on it's way this week and is VERY hot!

Flesh Vs. Metal (NSFW)

Technically, this should be titled "Drawing characters #78", but it's not exactly the character nor the background for the next comic project. 

Just inking + coloring tests based on one drawing quickly drawn during the comiccons last year. Love the contrast naked hot and cold metal. I used a metal texture for the wall & roof, I still gotta run some tests. I have a vision of something more dark in the atmosphere. Anyway this is exciting, hehe!

Drawing characters #77 (Black Vs. White)

This is gonna be a thing, hehe, I just like this all black background, all the more with the naked (or half-naked, who knows?) Nimo here: maximum contrast between the skin & the black solid.

This was done during the comiccons, you feel some speedy lines here & there, a bit rough in the inking, I like this result.

A (very) WET Hump Day (Step by Step)

Starting with the 1st sketch I showed you without the hero in the background, then the final sketch right before the lines. I must say I'm pretty amazed with this main panel of page 7. I was so stressed out about doing the guy right, not fucking up the perspective, the rendering of the water, all the jungle, etc.

Turns out to be one of my best panel so far. I may need to reduce the thickness of the line of water in contact with his body to make it even better, but hey I'm never fully sa...

Of course I drawn this one again, still practicing the inking there and I feel the progress here & there, little by little. 

I'm still in search of the design too although it's almost done in my head. But you know how this works: you gotta translate the perfect vision you have in mind down to the paper & it's easier written than done!

Oh, and I decided to go for a black background, you get both versions. I think it suits pretty well my ink tests, don't you think?

This is a complete inking test I drawn during the comiccons in december. I worked a lot the inking at this time, getting so inspired by fellow artists, including the one & only Patrick Fillion!

This guy is one of the main characters of the sci-fi project I wanna do next (meaning during the production of LUST, not after). Real pre-production should start in  the beginning of the year, I still train myself a lot, while the scenario and writing are almost done.

Built all together, you see the panels in their original sketch version. If you look closely to the final renderings you saw before, you get an idea of how many hours I spend there.

Sometimes, at the last second while drawing the final lines, I realize something's wrong and I need to redo some part, mostly proportions are off or the face (like the eyes) are odd. It's a super stressfull feeling, but all vanishes in the end when it's over and I'm kinda satisfied with the final result. I h...

Sexy knee! (Orange NSFW mix)

Sharing this one with a SFW mix on my social networks lately, I liked what I came up to with the signature orange Patreon color and these white patterns. So here it is NSFW version for you only, guys!

The falling (step by step)

I really had a good time on this one. First cause of the specific pose, and VERY tricky, it took a long time to process the sketch stage. 

Second with the vine: I explicitly got rid of all the jungle around to make the pose clear & readable, and how the vines were connected to him, how some torn apart.

Plus I like his reaction: "Fucking jungle." Hehehehehehe :-D

Deltoid anatomy studies

Studying still with www.proko.com and I learned a lot with the deltoid, like you could pretty far in the detailling there. That totally made sense when I see some extreme muscle art in superhero pieces or bodybuilders when they compete.

It's still pretty complex, I mean the full arms anatomy, but actually no anatamy is easy haha! In a few years I guess I'll be fluent in anatomy. ^^
