The final step after the hard shadows, and what a step! I wanted to translate how powerful & dangerous Cyke's beam is and I find the way with coloring, adding strong lights + red fx from the weapon.

A bit more harder & longer than I found: coming right after the line art stage, here are the shadows, in the style of older Uncanny X-Men, mixed with my own skills. I guess the ultimate step, the colors, will make the illustration readable, haha! I already picture some light effects too. :-)

An extended creative view at this very special piece. I really enjoyed the challenge to render this character through the likeness of the actor. The scarification was very new to me, it looks pretty which is odd when you know the pain it comes from!

After the sketch comes the inking, and I worked here still looking at the past X-Men comics for reference. It's funny how I look closely to the details so many years later when enjoying them as a teenager.
Next step is shadowing with heavy black solids, before the colors.

I really like his side view here, from page 10, & how the arms are well set with the butt fingering. Oddly the ink process seems a bit unusual to me: I went quite soon to the hair step, before finishing all the inking on the panel. Maybe cause it's a wide one, heh!

A good practice with inking, I went for a heavy thick brush & played with the pressure of the tool in Procreate to get the many various lines.
The funny thing is I stopped myself from going for the heavy black shadowing, I kept it simple for once, haha!
