1st Plate Complete

I'm making 2 plates and the first one is now done! One has the 3D Steel Lattice decoupler and the other has a Composite Decoupler. Once the 2nd is completely baked I'll wrap each with Ballistic Nylon and add straps prior to Ballistic Testing.

Update on the Sniper Obliterator Panel

I've passed the half-way mark on this plate build! The plate should be finalized and wrapped by later next week and I'm really hoping I can test next weekend or the one after, just depends on when my contact can get me setup to do firing tests with the 300MW on his property.

3D Steel Lattice Update

I've just received my 1st Steel 3D print from PCBWay! This will be a panel insert as a decoupler between Boron Carbide tiles to see if I can get better performance out of a traditional style armor panel.

Tubulane Lattice Structure Update

I've gotten many iterations of lattices that I've tested against ballistics some have stopped rounds, some haven't. I'm targeting next week for my final analysis YouTube video along with posting a couple of the most impressive structures here as STLs for you to resin print for your own experiments!

Resin Printed Tubulanes - Update

I've been quiet on my channels as I wrap up all the workshop electrical installs and Building x2 3D printers! But I've filmed and am editing my Resin Printing tutorial and I've got you Legends in here :)

I'm targeting Thursday or Friday to Publish across the channels! I'll peruse the names of folks in the Ledger of Legends tier the day before publish to add to the video.

Workshop SciFi Conduit - Beginnings

As you all know, I'm building my workshop still; I'm installing more breakers and running electrical currently so I have integrated power and not extension cords all over. But! As with my builds, I like to add that extra touch of futurism. I'm using 3/4" metal conduit and have designed my own coupling package!

I'm currently in the coffee shop and have not printed them yet, but once I finish my electrical job and publish my YouTube video I'll share these tuned 3D models with you so that ...

Spinal Battery V1

I’ve gotten the first prototype of the spinal battery for the suit running my electric Batman blades and can drive a lot more peripherals at up to 12Amps continuous draw with dual isolated cells so they can be damaged but continue running at full voltage. Updates coming to YouTube in a week!

Mission Complete ✅

Great job all, the post was taken down that was selling my printed files on Etsy! This is a big win to ensuring I can keep posting my builds on here for you to print & tinker with these builds yourselves as we all try to make awesome gear :)

Spring-Loaded Batarang (Beginnings)

I've just started a much faster build! This should only take me a week or so -- I've designed on paper an inline-torsion spring loaded Batarang! Seems to be the first of its kind, it'll sit in a holster and you can grab it like a dagger and when you throw it, it expands out 🦇

I'll be posting the STLs as usual, once tolerances are worked out, for previously standing Patrons to download :)

Power Diverter Reference PCB Files

Here is the file which I created for my YouTube Tutorial on full PCB design! This is a simple circuit, but looks cool and is a great basis to learn and tinker with if you're looking to start making your own circuit boards :)

Magnetic Drive - Batman Blades Update

Hey crew! I've been spending a lot of time trying to derive this new Magnetic Drive version of the batman blades and it's getting close for me to post it for you all to try out yourselves! This one features the magnetic toggle function to snap in & out. The strap holders also got an update allowing the system to support a 3rd strap without impeding the bicep when you curl your arm.

I'll be printing out parts later to see how tolerances, sizing, and function runs.

Tuned Batman Gauntlet Files

Hey crew!

I’m working on fine tuning updates to strengthen and allow for smoother action for the Retractable Batman Blades. So far it’s much better with updated angles and tolerances! I’ve still got more to do on the Batman Blades but while I’m making updates — is there specific issues you have encountered that I should consider prior to the release of the next version? Tolerances issues / Strap problems / etc?

The new model will have a simple manual toggle via cylinder...

Project Batman - Assembly Tutorial Posted!

I've just finished posting a full assembly on YouTube for the V1 Batman Blade system for the files that you print here. As always, that's a great place to drop comments & thoughts of the build or desired improvements for this mechanism as I continue iterating the project!

Batman Gauntlet V2 - Hardware

Hey crew! For the Batman Gauntlet V1 model you will want to collect bits of hardware to assemble this. I'm a fan of the prime number 3 when designing so all bolts are 3mm diameter & bearings are all 3mm tall.

---------------Gather the Following for 1 Gauntlet---------------

X6 M3 Screws 16mm long   [ Main Chassis Bolts ]

X3 M3 Screws 8mm long    [ Blade-Arm Bolts ]

Created Collections!

Hey makers, I've just organized all of my project source files into the Collections tab on here. This will make it much easier to find the downloads you're looking for in each Project. For Example, the 5 source versions of the Hidden Blade can be easily hopped between to pick which you want to download for comparisons & such!

We're all makers and engineers here, so the page format doesn't resonate with us as much as having downloadable groups for design-inspo or for...

Hidden Blade Prototype - V6 Update

Hey makers! Now that I've finalized and posted my V4 Arc Reactor on Etsy, I'm back to spending personal engineering time towards the blade. I'm looking into designs that would allow fully tensioned ejections (they would continue their ejection if stopped half-way for example).

I'm rebuilding the unibody in Blender as this is shaping up to be an asymmetrical design unlike my previous models.

Prototype 5 - Cabling & Tensioner

Hey makers! I got a question about cabling for this on how it returns to its open position (hammers back at each end). You can view the cable asset in the .blend file attached if you open it and look under the Hardware Collection (non printables) and click the Eye icon to unhide the cable. You'll see my intended routing of the cable! The squiggly line denotes the tensioner which I was mounting to the screw to the right of the front bearing!

The cable routes through the tube around the l...

Printer Settings (Hidden Blade Prototypes)

My printer settings are as following for the Blender files to have correct tolerances. (I give 0.1mm to 0.3mm spacing between moving parts depending upon part-function in the Blender file).

----------------LAYERS----------------

First layer height is 0.2mm

Layer height is 0.15mm

3 perimeter shells

5 solid layers above & below

----------------SPEED----------------

45mm/s - Perimeters

80mm/s - infill

25mm/s - (small perims, bridges, othe...

Hardware Parts List - Compliant Designs

The Blender files have the components and ya can measure in Blender to get the dimensions, but this post is to help simplify which hardware sizes as you prototype!

Blade & Lock Magnets

- 3mm diameter x 4mm long neodymium

Elastic Bands

- Any thin bands that are just barely taught at 40mm

Bearings

- ID 3mm x OD 7mm x H 3mm ball bearings

(U shaped bearings might be better for thinner ring-cables)

Ramped Upper Unibody - Concept Update

If you zoom in and look closely to the little purple arrow -- you can see how the unibody now ramps over the blade. There is enough tolerance to let the blade fly in and out un-pinched but frees up creativity to design the sliders without concerns of having them remain shaped to hold the blade down!

By ramping out the blade edges, we get no height increase at all!

When inserting the blade upon assembly, you flex the part outward so the blade snaps in; and it's in for good an...

Reimagining Locking - News Update

I want these blades to have extremely fast ejections as it looks awesome, but magnetics were not able to keep up with the increased velocities of recent models; the blade is now bouncing back in before the locks can bite in. I've been a bit quiet the past 2 weeks as I'm trying to derive a mechanism that allows for instant lock-bite while being low enough friction to allow gravity locking. Other AC blade designs don't have this problem as they are all slow ejections on low mass blades or ratio...

Hidden Blade Prototype - Parts Upgrade

The released magnetic alternator prototype that is currently posted uses little 1mm axles to connect the hammers to the slider. I'm going to post the axle-less slider & hammers this week that you can swap into your experiments. These don't require hardware and are much easier to print!
