Damsel Yearbook: Challenger Dominiel

Hey all! Hope you're doing alright in these weird times. Today's Yearbook entry is Challenger Dominiel from Epic Seven, which I guess is a mobile RPG. It's not my kinda thing, but this girl sure is a cutie and I had a lot of fun drawing her. ^.^

Where's My Hero?

Jessie from Final Fantasy VII Remake gets caught by Shinra soldiers, manages a daring escape even as she's restrained... only to get her foot stuck in something as usual! And what's that sound... oh no! The bomb timer! Where's Cloud when you need him?!

In the remake, this actually gets replaced by her foot getting caught under some convenient debris, and I can see why--those mammoth gaps in the original scaffolding would be hard to get stuck in. But I hate convenient debris, so...

Progress Update: 2020-03-27

I haven't been able to do one of these in ages, waaaaa! But now that I'm actually able to do a "full" drawing again, I gotta keep y'all posted. Damsel Yearbook: Shiki Ryougi

In today's instalment of the Yearbook we've got Shiki Ryougi from Kara no Kyoukai. I wasn't familiar with the character before, but when the patron who requested her told me about her special ability, the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, I knew I wanted to do something special with that. (I love painting eyes.) So going a little rougher than usual, I thoroughly wrapped her up in tape, leaving just one eye exposed to stare up at the viewer.

Generally I want to draw characters for the Yearbook in their most iconic outfit, but obviously in the case of someone who wears massive armor, that would be difficult. Sailor Moon is one of those franchises where you can't stray too far from the original art style or it's just not going to look right... but also, said art style is really damn difficult to replicate. I hope I did a decent job, though!

I'm eventually gonna do the other Inner Senshi, each bound in a position based on their classic pose like I did with Usagi here, and a color-coded ballgag.

Progress Update: 2020-02-01 (IMPORTANT)

Well, I wish it didn't have to come to this point, but I have to slow down to get my bearings. I'll explain the exact situation and how I came to this decision below, but first I'll get the facts out of the way:

First of the December patron requests, this famous lady from Teen Titans. ^.^

There are some things you never really think about until you have to do them yourself, and one of them is the sort of "reverse shading" that DCAU shows sometimes do on dark outfits. I can't tell if it's a way to show depth despite the outfit already being pitch black, or if it's supposed to be a shiny material. Given what we're all here for, I decided to go with the latter here. ;)

Progress Update - 2019/12/31

Needless to say, I wasn't able to finish a monthly drawing this time. I feel incredibly bad about it because I want to give you all a consistent bang for your buck--even though it can be argued that the main point of Patreon is just to support creators you like anyway, and the incentives are a bonus.

The thing is, December has been ridiculously busy for me, even outside of the normal, expected holiday stuff. Pesky real life obligations gettin...

Today's unexpected challenge is applying my signature vivid eye coloring to a character whose defining physical characteristic is empty eyes. Ufufufu. Her hair is nice and shiny though, right?

Well, that's the shonen girls done. I will be back sometime between Christmas and New Year's with a finished Celica, provided I don't have a cold anymore! My fiance gave me this American cold medicine and I feel super loopy now.

Damsel Yearbook: Orihime Inoue

Alright, so; usually for the Yearbook I try to pick whatever is the most "iconic" outfit for a damsel, but here's the thing--I never really got into Bleach. :P Looking at the usual kinds of references left me a bit cold, but my fiance showed me this outfit from the last arc. He probably had two very good reasons for it. :V

Progress Update - 2019/12/12

Hey, it's that time of the month where I show you what I'm working on!

A little while ago I got into a bit of a sketch frenzy, which led to my Mamako, Aries and Stella pics, as well as this Celica that I'm cleaning up now! Because I'm using a pretty low-budget tablet, I've found that it's easy to do my initial sketches at a very small resolution and then blow them up before adding more detail and then going into the inking stage. However, since I didn't have any lore jokes to exploit, instead I went for an uncommon pose that gave me a challenge. Hope you like looking at it as much as I enjoyed drawing it!

So the theme poll ended in a tie this time, which means I had to do a tiebreaker. This is a very involved process that involves me going to my fiancé and asking which one he likes better.

The result is that I'll be drawing some shonen damsels! I'm pretty excited, I admit--this is a pretty big gap in my damsel repertoire. Off the top of my head, all I've ever done is draw a few Dragon Ball girl...
