Important updates.

As I mentioned, there’s an exam in September. Unfortunately, I thought it would be later in the month, but it came sooner than expected. I have one last exam on 8th September, and after that, another one in December.

I guess this exam didn’t go as well as I hoped. I probably should have focused more on studying instead of my work 😮‍💨. But it’s too late to dwell on regrets.

Anyway, let’s move on to something more interesting.

While I was working on world-bu...

Important Announcement

Hey everyone,

I’ve been a bit under the weather lately—probably due to too much exposure to the rain—but I’ll be back to writing soon. For now, here’s the important update:

I’m planning to end Volume 1 around Chapter 100—that’s the current goal. After that, I’ll be taking a break from public updates. During this break, I’ll still try to occasionally post a few chapters, updates, or polls for future arcs here on Patreon whenever I can.

If you'd like, yo...

88. Ripples of Truth

Su Wei frowned at her words. He leaned forward slightly, his gaze sharp and thoughtful. "Miss Yue, are you implying our path is unwise?"

“I am implying it is dangerous,” she corrected, her voice calm. “Your clan’s actions are actively altering the fates of millions. Such widespread intervention is a gamble against Heaven itself. Your clan might have to face heavy repercussions for it.”

"How can that be?" Su Jiao asked, his brows knitted in confusion. "We are helping pe...

87. The Shadow of Heng State

A heavy silence descended upon the tranquil courtyard. Yue Mei’s words hung in the air, sharp and immutable. They shattered the cousins' lifelong perception of their home. Su Ting and Su Jiao’s expressions had shifted. Their curiosity had turned to stunned disbelief. Their eyes were wide, mouths slightly agape, as they tried to process the sheer scale of what she had just revealed.

It was Su Jiao who broke the silence.

His brow furrowed in confusion. A hint of denial colored...

Even for Su Ting, it remained a mystery. How had his brother seen through her cultivation?

"Good," Su Jiao said with renewed energy in his eyes. "Since we're all free right now, how about we visit her? What do you guys think?"

"Hmm, I'll be busy later," Su Wei mused, tapping a finger on his cup. "So I agree with your thoughts." He then turned his gaze to Su Ting. "How about it? Can we meet her today?"

Su Ting knew this day would come. It was better to get it over with...

Jia Ming contemplated all of this, his face a mask of conflict, when Su Wei’s voice cut through his thoughts.

“A twenty-five percent discount,” Su Wei stated, his tone leaving no room for argument. “The Su Clan will send people to guard the vein until the situation stabilizes. You can renegotiate the price again, but only after a certain period of time has passed. How is this?”

Jia Ming considered it. He thought about the benefits. The Su Clan’s protection is worth m...

84. Jia Ming's Offer

Watching the lively atmosphere, Jia Ming looked at Jia Rou and Jia Lin, his eyes had a meaningful look in them.

Jia Rou felt a spike of resentment. In Fenglin City, she was respected. She understood the gap between her family and a top clan, but this felt cheap. It stung her pride. For a moment, a deep frown crossed her face, but she hid it, schooling her expression into one of demure politeness. She would obey her brother. She did not have to like it.

Jia Lin just simply smiled...

Su Jiao returned to his courtyard.

He was a wreck. His fine robes, streaked with grime and sweat, were ruined cloth. His face had traces of fists and punches. He took off his torn clothes and stepped into a hot bath. He used his spiritual Qi to heal his injuries. If it's keeps going, I’ll have to run away from the manor, he thought. “I need to come up with a good excuse,” he muttered. After cleaning himself and changing, he collapsed onto his bed. He craved the sweet obl...

Su Jinhai returned to the courtyard with Su Chen and Dong Yue, his expression having softened from grimness to a quiet sorrow. He saw his son, Su Liang, kneeling beside Su Ting and patiently helping him write on a piece of paper. A faint, sad smile touched Su Jinhai's lips as he walked over to them.

"So, Su Ting also wants to make a wish for the Spirit Lantern Festival," he said, his voice gentle. He glanced down at the paper. In neat, slightly shaky characters, it read: ‘All...

The question struck Su Kang like a blow. It was innocent. It was devastating. A lump formed in his throat. He could not breathe. He bit down hard on his lower lip. He looked at his brother's perfect, empty face. He knew he couldn't cry. Not in front of him. It would only confirm his words. A painful smile bloomed on his face.

"Su Ting, you are a little different. That's true," he began. His voice cracked with emotion. "Do you know, even before you were born, I used to buy you toys and ...

Fourteen years ago…

The sun cast golden slants across the training ground. A young man stood alone. He wore white robes. Talisman papers floated around him. With a flick of his fingers, he activated a thunder talisman. A loud crack split the air. A burst of thunderous power followed, damaging the training puppet.

He narrowed his eyes. A flicker of satisfaction crossed his composed features. "The output is solid," he noted, his voice clear and decisive....

Su Kang smiled warmly at her earnestness but gently shook his head. "Xi'er," he began, his voice soft, "the seal engraving is tied to one's lineage. You don't have a direct connection to any totem beast, so you can't bear such a seal on your body." His eyes met hers, soft yet unwavering. “You’re my wife. You don’t need a mark to prove that.”

"It’s not about proving anything," she murmured, her voice low but firm, a stubborn light entering her gaze. “I just want a ma...

78. A Totem-Beast's Legacy

Su Kang nodded, finally understanding the origin of his clan’s insignia—the Sky-Shaking Golden Lion. The beast they all proudly wore had once been a sacred totem; now, it was reduced to a mere clan insignia. Yet another question lingered in his mind. He furrowed his brows and asked, “Senior, why is blood essence necessary for this ceremony?”

“Blood is the foundation of mortal life,” Senior Ma replied, his voice still carrying the ritualistic cadence of the ceremony. “Whil...

Soon, the sky turned dark, filled with countless stars shining over them and the snowcovered landscape, lending it shimmering blue hues. As they gazed at the starry expanse, they shared their stories, intertwining their pasts and building a stronger bond for their shared future and dreams. They lay together face to face, his one arm a pillow beneath her head, the other wrapped around her body.

After midnight, their stories shifted to family members. Sometimes Bai Yunxi shared Li Fang's...

76. A Tale Entwined

The cold winds of winter had brought many activities in the mortal world to a halt. Some villages lay nestled under thick blankets of snow, their inhabitants sustaining themselves from crops harvested in autumn. Those near the mountains survived by trading meat, furs, herbs, and special fruits with their neighbors. Here and there, a few children, bundled in thick fur coats, played joyfully in the snow, their laughter echoing in the crisp air. The roofs of the quaint houses were uniformly capp...

"I know what I am saying, Mother. It was I who provided the initial information about the realm. I have my reasons for saying this," Su Kang stated, his gaze steady and confident as he met her worried eyes, trying to reassure her with a silent plea for trust. He then turned his attention back to the assembled elders. "If we are to explore the realm, then I wish to lead that task."

A ripple of uncertainty passed through the other elders; they exchanged hesitant glances, unsure how to re...

Su Kang had let them go. His primary interest in Meng Li had always been her talent in alchemy, which he had hoped would one day benefit his clan. Even Elder Lu Yin had later apologized to him personally. He vividly recalled the scene: a woman of graceful beauty with long dark hair, an elegant green robe, and striking large green earrings that framed a face with a small, charming mole under her left eye, bowing before him.

"Su Kang, I am truly sorry about Meng Li," she had said, her vo...

73. Family Meeting

A few days had passed since the Su Clan's banquet and gathering. Today was the long-anticipated family meeting that Su Kang had to attend with his parents. Su Kang was dressed in a deep navy-blue robe, embroidered with the subtle gleam of a golden lion insignia on his chest. The design of the insignia reflected the hierarchy within the clan. He walked with slow, deliberate steps as he made his way toward the main hall.

The winter sun shone brightly in the sky, but its rays lacked warmt...

As the night deepened, the vibrant energy of the banquet gradually mellowed. Hearty laughter softened to contented murmurs, and the rhythmic clinking of wine cups became less frequent. It was understood that in the coming weeks and months, the Su estate would see a slow but steady influx as more family members returned from their various duties and expeditions; some would even be recalled from the Qingyun City branch.

Slowly figures began to depart, heading back to their respective cou...

All the present elders nodded at his remark. Su Kang glanced around the table. Not all the clan's elders are present at this gathering, he noted. The First and Second Elders rarely show themselves except for the most crucial occasions. Third Elder—Grandpa Li—is currently out with Su Hua, and another branch elder is absent for reasons unknown to me.

The Sixth Elder, after taking another mouthful of wine, added, "Even if he somehow survives and carves out a spot for ...

Formal talks and negotiations with allied clans… and it took months? Su Kang mused. Su Feng also went out with his father. It definitely seems the clan is preparing for something significant. He suspected his family was planning to expand its influence, and the recent successful harvest of spiritual herbs had likely fueled those ambitions.

He decided not to dwell on it further for now; he would likely gain more information in the upcoming family meeting. Instead, he...

After a long time, Bai Yunxi stirred beneath the soft sheets, her brows twitching slightly as she began to wake. Pale morning light streamed through the window, casting a gentle, ethereal glow across the room. Her lashes fluttered open, and she sat up slowly, instinctively drawing the silken covers closer to her chest. Turning her head, she saw Su Kang sitting in a chair nearby, watching her quietly with a tender expression.
