As a kid, I loved bubbles.

As an adult, they still make me smile. Because they remind me of my mom. She would always try to perfect the formula, trying different soap brands, adding this or another component so that the bubbles would be more resistent and not pop as soon as I touched them.

We never succeeded 😂 but I love that my mom would put so much effort on this little thing just for me to enjoy my play time even more.

I'll tell you a little secret. As many others, I had my slightly gothic phase when I was a teenager 🖤

Although I didn't have any money to get pretty clothes. I mostly just wore simple black Tees and pants, so I guess I don't deserve to be called a "real" goth 😂 (even tho most people around me would often ask if I was).

Okay, I lied, it's not really "real-time", but almost! 🤏 Haha!

I sped it up by 200% so it's 2 times faster than my real drawing speed. It's the only way to turn about 3 hours of footage into a friendlier 1 and a half hour video 😅

But it's definetly not as fast as my usual speedpaints so I think you'll find this is a nice pace where you can appreciate all the little things I'm doing and how my rendering process works (spoiler: I'm improvising most of the time 😂)

Pocket Chibis Prizes

Been daydreaming with this alternate "cottagecore" outfit I made for Rina, but I keep postponing drawing all the ideas in my head 😂 so I pushed myself to at least get one out this month!

It felt strange drawing a chibi with both eyes closed, (I missed doing all the sparkles around there :'D) but the commissioner thought it looked more in character like this. And honestly, I love the vibe we got in the end. It's so peaceful 💖

Trying to dress your character with clothes they've never worn is a very interesting challenge! Finding the perfect balance between the new aesthethic and the OC's personality/original design can be a tough cookie 😂

There are expressions I've never tried wth Haruyo, such as the exasperated/confused and the angry crying. I struggled the most with those 😅

You know when you see a character and you go "Oh, yeah, they're the main character definitely". That was me as soon as I saw Rumi's hairstyle 😂

I'll admit it's a very cool one! Something I would have probably given my OCs when I was younger and did't care about realism.

Although... it's one painful hair to draw. Starting with the visible hairline and ending with the exhausting long braid 😅

How to draw Face Expressions that feel REAL ✨🤔

The first tutorial made entirely with the new computer! Oh gosh, this works so much better and renders everything super fast. PC situation update!

Hello!

My new computer is finally here and it seems to be working very smoothly! I actually got scared when it booted up in a few seconds rather than several minutes. It felt like sorcery 🤣

How to LET COLORS SHOW through rendering 🎨

Put up a quick guide with some more shading/rendering tips.

This goes with what I told you about certain colors being more sentitive to light here.

Realistic shadows are rarely ultra saturated. It's very easy to eat up the base/local color with a dark or greyish color and turn your rendering into a muddy mess. If you have issues with this, rather than adding more darkness to your base colors, try addin...

Drawing things I've never tried before (like Alastor's maniac expression) is surely scary, but I also find there's something liberating in the process. Like the fact my brain has to come up with new solutions would be unlocking a hidden potential slowly.

So always remember to see the bright side even when you "fail" on a drawing. The bright side being learning what went wrong and what can you do to fix that next time.

Over the years, I've found out that clothing transparencies are portrayed better when you paint over the different parts instead of going the easy route by lowering the layer's opacity. It requires more control and knowledge about light, shadows, and volume, but it comes out much more realistic and professional that way.
