The Star Control Retrospective
Remember when I made that video on Wurm Online a year ago whose whole theme was the inevitable decay of the game...? Well why not see what's happened to my base since then.
This is just a quick video to hopefully sate some appetites for my voice before we enter the new year, since the Star Control video is taking longer than I'd hoped. I've been struggling a little bit with motivation recently, but I hope to be finished with it in the next week.
The crux of my motivation problems...

There it is. Now I can say I've played Satisfactory to its utmost. If you'd like to explore this map on your own time, it's in the attachments.

Well it's finally out. Sorry for the long wait, but hopefully it answers all your burning questions like, "Are Factorio skills transferable?" and "He couldn't be THAT good at videogames, could he...?"
Apologies for the Blocksville Tennessee at the start. It was a major part of why I'd struggled with the motivation to finish this one. I was beating myself up for treating it like Factorio while I was playing it, because the 3D made crafting a coherent chain of events much tougher than Facto...
Sorry for the long wait, I was having some trouble with motivation for a week or two, but I've mostly gotten that squared away. I was considering not charging for this month since I only like to do it if I release a video, but it should be finished in another two or three days and I figured most people wouldn't mind.
As an apology, have my favorite moment from my Satisfactory playthrough. I streamed my whole playthrough to my Discord, and while it's not something I usually do, it had t...
I'm indecisive, so I'll let you be decisive for me.
The first option would require MUCH more time to play through several ~50 hour games and talk about them concisely, but would be broader. It might even take me two months. The second option would allow a more focused look in which I specifically compare Factorio and Satisfactory, which I could probably do in about a month.

This mod was one hell of a ride.
I don't think I've ever been caught off guard quite so much as with this mod. There were so many moments that just left me in disbelieve and I'm not sure any other mod had made me raise my voice this much.
Here's a look into an old favorite of mine, as well as my thoughts of the genre as a whole. I've made a couple videos about roguelikes and roguelites, so it felt appropriate to explore the space a little bit more. It feels like I made a million references in this video but only scratched the surface of all the games in this genre, but hopefully it's interesting.
Seeing as Warptorio's won the poll (Py doesn't count), that'll be the next video, so look forward to it.
Okay, so I mentioned this in the Discord, but basically the project I was working on for the first two weeks since the last video suddenly fell apart and I had to start on a completely different topic in the middle of the month. That means I'll be late getting the video out, but to make it up to everyone I'm finally running another poll for Factorio mods. It's been a while, and while there's not as many overhauls ported to 2.0 as I'd prefer, there's still plenty to choose from.
As usua...
There it is, the most painful run to date. I forgot to post this because I got distracted by how bad the bitrate looked. This video cannot accurately depict the amount of stress and the number of reloads this one took, but it's a glimpse into the madness. I actually considered making it a much more sophisticated base at the end and really start clearing nests, but I decided the video would be long enough already and I just didn't have it in me anymore.
I must've reloaded a hundred times...

I felt like it was time to play some more weird games, and while this is a recent release, I thought it was interesting enough to talk about. It's more of a review, but hopefully it's as interesting to you as it is to me.

Well, I've finished. Really my goal with this was to have a nice thematic base with the end goal being the shattered planet, and I'm glad I made it there in (mostly) one piece. This will probably be my last video on Space Age because I find it a little difficult to make interesting challenges for.
The save files are in the previous post.
Sadly I'll need a little more time to finish the second part of the Trash saga, but here is a video of me flying towards the Shattered Planet as compensation.
Also here's the savefiles for anyone who wants to play around with it in the meantime, (unless you don't want to spoil yourself.) It's three separate files, one before taking off for the shattered, planet, one 75% of the way there, and one 99.9% of the way there. Fair warning, the platform barely made it and will explode shortly ...

I played this game way too much and I've got a few thoughts on it, but beyond my own personal grievances, I think it's an interesting look into certain aspects of skill based gameplay and the multiplayer experience.

Wurm Online is a Swedish Sandbox MMO from 2006. I used to play it, and its jank was a little more excusable back then. It still shambles on, but I think there's a lot you can learn from it. Here's my experience.

It's finally here. This one was a doozy, especially on the back of the Megabase video. Hope you like it. I do wish I could've made some of my builds a little more substantial, but it's just not necessary and I wanted this to be a normal playthrough
Anyway I'm going to do a retrospective in a bit, and then some non Factorio videos next.
It's finally out...
Man this one was rough. Three hundred hours for one video is a lot, roughly one minute of footage for every minute of playtime. Between the playtime, Factorio LAN, and getting corona for a week, there sure were a lot of delays, but hopefully it will have been worth the wait.
I'm reasonably happy with how this megabase turned out. I've learned a lot and I'd do many things differently if I had to do it again, but that's what Factorio is all about.
2024-10-06 01:50:05 +0000 UTC View PostThis is what I get for making the video about a megabase. I'm really sorry it's taking this long. It's close to being finished, I swear. Between the event in Prague and the Covid I got as a souvenir, I've had a couple delays. Hopefully this offering of the first fifteen minutes will appease you. I was tempted to upload what I've got right now (1h 12m) but that would take forever to upload.
Thank you for your patience, and if it's any consolation, the next video after this one wil...

Sorry, I try to be monthly, but this one's been a beast of an undertaking and so it's going to take a while longer. I'm almost done with my megabase, and so now it's a matter of crunching over 200 hours of footage into a single video.
Since I have a self imposed rule of only charging when I release a video, here's a video.

I felt like PvP deserved a little more content, so here it is.
As usual, won't be charging for this one

Not exactly a challenge per se, but after seeing those scenarios on the side every time you hit new game, you can't help but get curious. And now that I've played all of them, you don't need to!
2024-07-21 09:59:32 +0000 UTC View PostAlright it's the time again, but this time in the interests of getting this one out quickly to make up for the delay on that last video, I've limited it to two options.

Barotrauma provides an experience unlike any other. The potential it carries is as deep as the ocean it explores; it's a shame it's so jank!

What an interesting run that was. It almost makes me want to try again with all the knowledge I've gained. It's perhaps the most unique Factorio experience there is, completely changing the dynamics of the factory from one of infinite growth to that of optimization. Hopefully you find it as interested as I did.
As always, savefiles in the attachments, and thanks for the support. This one took me a little longer than usual but I'm sure you can see why.

This is the result of the community server where I sat around and did nothing. It's a bit of a shitpost and a bit of an out of date April Fools video, but here it is anyway. I'll go do something serious now.

Roguelikes are fun, and you can blame this game for delaying the last video because I used wanting to make this video as an excuse to keep playing Cogmind when I should've been playing Factorio.
I'm really glad I can occasionally talk about things I'm passionate about even when they don't hit big numbers on Youtube, so thanks for your continued support.
See?
I told you I'd get it out before the end of the month. Thank god it was a leap year. As always, save file's in the attachments for if you really want to wade through my mess

Sorry for the delay, I underestimated how long it would take to write the script and edit all the footage, but here it is. I'll get started on the Randomized Run ASAP so look forward to it.
As always, thanks for indulging my bizarre fascinations.
2024-02-03 01:52:25 +0000 UTC View PostSorry about missing my (Self Imposed) restriction of releasing a video every month and only charging when I do so. The next video's about some random light farming sims I played, and it'll be done in a couple more days.
To make up for that, here's this poll on the next Factorio challenge that I'll complete before the end of February. Honest!
-> As usual, you can pick multiple options, so vote for whatever you want! <-
