Earfun Free Pro - taking it to the very top

I must confess I was too busy to release this video which was shot already several days ago. But in the meantime something unexpected has happened which made the whole tuning process a complete nightmare but in the end it turned out to be godsent. I will explain the whole story around the process in a more detailed video soon. Just tell me, do you prefer some walk through nature or shall I just sit there talking....?

Sennheiser AMBEO - sample variation

I measured all 3 AMBEO units as they all sound slightly different and would need different EQ settings for best results, there seems to be some stronger sample variation present when looking at these graphs. Graphs are raw uncompensated and the AMBEO sets have the flat EQ preset applied.

Sennheiser AMBEO Smart Headset - revisited

Caution: I just received a 3rd unit and it sounds again different and has some stronger imbalance. There seem to be some severe quality issues with this product, maybe therefore they are sold now for such a low price. But if you manage to get a decent unit, you will get amazing sound, I am really enjoying the IEMs with the EQ adjusted within the AMBEO app and on top you also get quite OK microphones which need some postprocessing though for really lifelike results.

Music session #3 - MPB Sundara 2020

Originally I didn't want to post this when I heard the issues with the microphones, but it seems the main part still sounds OK, just at the beginning and during some shorter parts you can hear the sound cutting off a bit, sorry for that. Unfortnately my new microphones haven't arrived yet, dunno what's going on with the post office.

Earfun Free Pro - Oluv edition

Sorry for my absence but I was quite busy lately and just finished my tuning for the upcoming Earfun Free Pro "Oluv edition". Also" photo shooting" for the packaging had to be done etc. (in reality just some selfies)

I think if my tuning translates well into the DSP the IEM will sound very nice. I was working on a raw untuned version and I am really satisfied with the result so far and will keep you updated about the progress.

"Zeit im Bild" is the most popular daily Austrian news TV show since the 50s. I simply translated it word by word as it sounds so funny. 

With this new "show" I would like to share some spontaneous news, work in progress, etc if don't have time or possibility for full reviews as long as I am still waiting for my new in-ear microphones to arrive simply to keep you updated about what's going on.

Divoom Macchiato discounted for 30€

Amazon.de has the blue Divoom Macchiato currently discounted for 30€ which is a great price for what you get. It's not the best sounding mini speaker, but still better than most mini speakers, has dynamic bass adjustment for low levels and on top it has FM radio included and can be paired with another one for true wireless stereo. Apple Airpods Max - 3D spatial audio demonstration

I can finally show you the effect of spatial audio with the Airpods Max as long as I still have them, because they will be picked up later today by TNT. 

I also had to take a subscription for Vimeo and upload the video there, because Youtube blocked the video again worldwide because of Helene Fischer, what a bi....!

Skiing fun

Just wanted to post this as it may be funny seeing me fall whole the time, but I had noticed too late that my binding was not set properly, that's why it opened repeatedly. I let it adjust afterwards which cost me just 5€ and wanted to go up again, but it was already quite late thus I preferred staying with my son and shoot his first skiing steps instead.

I didn't take my microphones with me, the sound is just directly out of the Gopro, but I would like to shoot some other videos like...

Music session #1

This was a first try of a "music session". I am not sure if anyone is interested in that kind of videos, but as I am doing walks with my dogs often, it's not a big deal to take a camera and some speakers or headphones with me and simply shoot something listening to various kinds of music and share this experience with you.

Apple Airpods Max special - the final take!

I am really glad that my last pair of microphones is still alive and allowed me to finish this video, but I am no 100% confident with the recording in terms of absolute fidelity. The relative differences between all headphones can be still distinguished quite well here and appear correct to me, but I wouldn't trust the overall timbre of the recording, which appears a bit too harsh to me especially in the 5khz region. This doesn't seem to be that obvious with most of the other  headphones...

Mr. Speakers Ether CX - frequency response measurement

This is the perceived response of the Mr. Speakers Ether CX measured with my own ears and the default tuning pads, it comes with various kinds of felt-pads, but they all do not really improve the sound rather make it even more muddy.
I am not sure about the measured imbalance for left and right, which may also be a measuring error as my microphones died shortly after, but actually I asked Drop for another unit as I was sure the first one must have been broken, when I heard it for the first...

I recorded this with my broken mics and thank godness it still turned out quite OK. I hope I can manage another headphone video with these before sending my mics away. Measuring speakers

Just wanted to show you how I usually measure speakers outdoors. 

Smaller speakers (like Soundlink Mini) etc can be nicely measured nearfield indoors, but with larger speakers I need a bigger distance to capture their sound and have to go outdoors to avoid any room influence to show up in the measurements.

Christmas listening

I recorded this the day before Christmas and wanted to post it right afterwards, but I noticed some problems with the audio recording. Obviously the pressure of the headphones on my back-ear area caused the left microphone to move a bit, thus the left ear sounds blocked when I listen to some headphone. To be honest, I am not satisfied with the result listening to it today. Especially by listening to the headphone the captured sound differs quite a bit. I need some ideas for a catchy video title. It will be hard to fight against all other reviewers on Youtube as they all have pounced on this headphone trying to add their own two cents, but I highly doubt that anyone managed a realistic sound demo yet.
