Couldn’t resist wrapping things up with a little solo take on Inner Urge by the great Joe Henderson. Here’s a clip from the end of the class!

Guided Meditations Series for String Players

Patrons, I'm thrilled to share a project close to my heart—a series of guided meditations designed for cellists and string players. These recordings help ease fear-based tension and foster a deeper sense of ease at the instrument.

- Designed to be used while playing—ideal for long tones, slow scales, arpeggios, or open strings

- Each track is set in a different key, featuring soothing drones and tabla-inspired rhythms instead of a standard met...

Barry Harris concepts applied to the Cello on IGC!

🚨 New Video Series Alert! 🚨

I’m really excited to share a new series diving into Barry Harris’s scale concepts — adapted specifically for the cello.

These are some of the best ways to bring chromatism into your playing — in a way that’s organized, musical, and just plain fun.

While Barry focused on the bebop sound, these tools are also amazing for blues, funk, and modern jazz — and I’ll show you how I use them in real time.

This isn’t just another...

RE: New Mini Project For Cellists-

Reaching out to my cello nerd patrons:

Hope you’re doing well! I was wondering if you’d be up for checking out a little project I’ve been working on.

A few years ago, I created a series of audio meditations for our String Yoga program at String Project LA. The idea was to help students release tension and feel more grounded at the instrument. Each track is designed to be played during warmups—like long tones, slow scales, arpeggios, or double stops—anything repetitive t...

New Cello Class II V I Linear Harmony For Cellists!

For my beloved fellow cello nerd patrons! Including the worksheet here as well!

"Almost every cellist I’ve taught struggles with minor II V I and major chord progression. In this video, I’ll show you an approach that’s both comfortable on the instrument and packed with new ideas—even if you’re already an intermediate player used to the traditional way of playing this progression. Cheers!"

Dear Patrons,

I'm reaching out to thank you heartfelt for the calls, texts, and emails you’ve sent during this incredibly challenging time in Los Angeles. Your concern and support mean so much to us.

I’m grateful to share that Diana and our kids are safe. We were luckier than many, and we’re counting our blessings. Still, our thoughts and prayers go out to the many friends and neighbors who have lost their homes, communities, places of worship, and even loved one...

New Quarteto Album

New

Just now

Hey Dear Patrons,

As promised, I wanted to send an advanced copy to all contributing tiers of Quarteto Nuevo's new album, of all original works (including 2 by yours truly) called The Jazz Roads Suite. An interesting aspect of this project was the fact that we were commissioned to write an original piece for each state we had toured in the previous six months, and because each member was writing, each piece has a unique voice and style.

A Blast from The Past

Hey Everyone,

Hope you are having a great new year!  Just wanted to share a string quartet album I did with some dear colleagues called Supernova.  We were literally kids just out of college.  All the arrangements and some originals were done by our group members, mostly Robbie Anderson (violin) and Miguel Attwood Ferguson (Viola).

Called "The Future of The String Quartet" by Turtle Island Violist Danny Seidenberg,  The group immediately disbanded when our firs...
