I decided in the end to simply remove the text from panel 3 because my thinking is that after essentially being disowned by your own mother, you probably wouldn't say much other than to maybe let out a wail of anguish, as Tsenaya does in the final panel.
Actually conveying the emotions of abandonment and despair was surprisingly tricky, and I'm super grateful for all the input and guidance Aktwin Grakata and Razul Wolf gave on the sketches! It real...

The background is gonna be a city viewed from pretty high up, as Nailah likes to keep her daughter pretty close to her when she's not working at the shipyard. Being a Prefect, you can understand she'd have some pretty swanky dibs at the top of a corporate tower.
That said, Tsenaya's clearly losing sleep over what she saw, but will it affect her work? That's what we get to see next!

EDIT: Took out a confusing panel and moved Nailah's wording around a bit to make Tsenaya's reaction easier to read/understand.
Keep in mind, the Nailah you see here isn't real...she's just how Tsenaya's subconscious chooses to portray her.
Also...I gotta admit the text for that last panel is gonna be tricky. Initially, I thought a "NOOOO!" would be more fitting but for some reason it just felt wrong, so I went with a general wail of dismay, but it still feels a lit...

EDIT: It seems as though the issue is mainly affecting Patrons based in the US, since the new payment processor is based in the UK. Switching to Paypal seems to remedy the problem, but if that isn't possible you might have to either switch cards or call your bank to sort things out.
I woke up this morning to a huge increase of declined pledges, and found that this is a problem that's affecting pretty much all creators in the US and UK.

I'm hoping the statue/sand effect in the first and second panels will work properly in the final version. Also if you look closely, the remnants of his ears will be visible in the second panel, which I personally find to be pretty creepy, but the idea here is that her dreams are crumbling away right in front of her. Behind them in the distance stands the ominous, judging figure of her mother.
I really wanna get across the relationship these two have and that Tsenaya really does worry abo...

I guess this is what happens when I do not one, but two pinups with lots of different versions! I tend to obsess over details in images like that so I end up taking a really long time to complete them. Let's hope I can get two pages of Sleepless Nights in before the end of the month!

Hey everyone!
I thought I'd try a little experiment and video myself working on touching up and completing this sketch that's in the sketchbook currently on auction (it's the first page in Sketchbook C). I had realized upon opening the book that I neglected to actually finish the sketch, so I did!
I hope you all enjoy this peek at me actually drawing with graphite, as it's not something I do terribly often hahah ^_^;;..
EDIT: I added the sketches for both the image that won the vote and the runner-up, since I totally forgot to post them earlier!

So yeah...I redrew this like a zillion times because in the sketch you voted for we didn't really get a good view of her crotch (something I personally wanted), and the angle of the shot just didn't allow for much background and it just wasn't feeling right.
