A lot of times during the Bumblekast recording sessions I mess around and doodle nonsense, either pertaining to patrons' questions or just whatever comes to mind. Here's a bunch of stuff that I did tonight to warm up before I tackle some commission work! (plus a couple leftovers from before Thanksgiving)

I've been too wiped out from my day job to focus on comics lately, but I've been in enough of a Sonic mood to keep this up, so hopefully all my Sonic fan subscribers are eating good this week.
Anyway I need a miniseries of her ASAP, get on it IDW.
Wanted to try practicing with my G-pen nib since I haven't done that in a hot minute. Sorry that it's just a photo, I didn't feel like scanning it in, haha. I gotta knock off the cobwebs a bit more, but it's cool working with a dip pen again! Got to try out my Deleter ink for the first time too! (only took me a year to open the bottle, ha)
Waiting to get a new brush in the mail too, so I can see how that feels to ink with as well. I'm....okay with a nib, but it's a little trickier than ...

Guys I TOTALLY hacked into Sega's servers and found this old artwork from 1994...what does it mean????
Kidding aside, I can't believe I managed this...it's my first time trying to render anything since I painted that Ponko Bronko parody cover, and I managed to do this one in the course of like...3 or 4 nights, I think. Granted this was just a character and not an entire illustration, but I'm still very happy with the end result :)
Maybe later on I'll do Whisper too, we'll see!

Also wanted to show this off while I'm in here! I started on this last night...I think I spent roughly 4 hours on it so far, and it'll probably be at least another 4 before it's done, but it'll be worth it in the end!
After I finished that "Classic" Tangle and Whisper sketch, I got the urge to try making something in the early Sonic box art style! (Primarily the US box art, to be specific, though I have been using some of the Japanese box art for reference too.)

Was super stoked to take a crack at a "Sunday" comic...I was hoping to get it put up on an actual Sunday, but I guess Monday is close enough!

Really looking forward to getting this one done! I actually already have a couple more panels inked, but I wanna save those for when it's completely done! Which will hopefully be soon -- though I'm trying to take my time and let each row of panels dry before I do the next, just so I don't have any accidental smudges.
I finally got a tabloid scanner!!! Now when I switch back to doing traditional comics eventually, I'll be able to scan my Bristol boards instead of trying to use my phone to capture my comics.
Oh yeah, speaking of which. No promises or anything, but I'm hard at work on the next Hedgehog's comic. I gotta do a little more planning than usual so it might be a tad more of a wait, especially since I still have some commissions to get through. But I think it'll be worth the wait!

I know with the last couple of comics I ended up posting to the website only a day or so after I released them here, but only because I really felt bad for taking so long and didn't want to leave everyone else hanging the extra week. But I think I'm hitting a steady enough stride where I can give y'all a little more exclusivity time before I make updates public again. (Knock on wood)

Soooo right after I said I was gonna take it easy tonight, I read some Jucika comics and then I got a bug up my ass and decided to draw the girls in a UPA-inspired style...and then I wanted to make a mini-print out of it, realized the drawing alone was way too small for a print, and then proceeded to spend like an hour doing some fancy lettering to fill the space to fit a postcard. And now it's 1:30 AM. Whoops. LOL.
Not sure when I'll do it, but I would love to make some prints of these...

Hey!! Remember how I said I was close to having a comic wrapped up this week? Well, I recently got into pickleball, which has been a blast, but I also strained the crap out of my shoulder 4 days ago, and then hurt it again last night because I thought it was done healing and got a little overzealous. :') However, I DID manage to thumbnail the next 3 comics, and even managed to script up the next bit of story beyond that!
That said, I really don't want to spoil too much of what's ahead! ...

I'm not even going to try and promise to be back to weekly comics again...the next one will happen when it happens, I'm still in the process of re-figuring out the remainder of this little story arc and I could wind up rewriting the script like 20 more times before I feel comfortable doing these last few comics. But I would like to be able to update more consistently again if my brain and my schedule cooperate!

I realize I could totally just wait until tomorrow and upload the lettered version of this comic, but honestly I am just so damn elated that I'm actually making progress on my comic again that I wanted to share the inks with y'all.
I'm still not sure whether I'm gonna keep doing digital comics or if I might switch back to traditional...I like the luxuries of working digitally but I do kinda miss the feeling of drawing on paper, especially after I spent a solid 3 days doing nothing BUT ...
Ended up absent-mindedly doodling these two while trying to get back in the groove with the comic again...playing around with a slightly different style too just to change it up a tad, for fun lol.
I'd elaborate more but...I don't wanna spoil too much here lol. Just playing around with ideas that were in my planning notes.
