Howdy yall, Russell here. Hope you all are having a good week!

This week is a bit of a shorter dump but I liked these enough to post them. I also have an announcement.

I will be taking a break from the Wednesday photography practice posts for a few weeks. I have something that will be eating up a lot of my time for the foreseeable future.

I'll still be taking photos and will hopefully return in a month or two with a ton of amazing photos. Until then, have a good week ever...

Apollo loves his jackal pups

Though he can be a bit of a butthead at times, Apollo definitely seems to love when the jackal pups are out to play.

Photography Practice 11 (Jade Edition)

Howdy yall, Russell here. Finally got my first full photo session in this weekend after a few weeks of partial/rushed photos.

This week Jade let me get super close while I had my DSLR out. The absolute closest I have ever gotten to him. And as a result I got some amazing photos of him!

Caturday update on Luna

Luna is our newest rescue kitty at SAF South.
Every since we took in our first cats here at SAF South and found out most were FIV positive. We've decided since then, saveafox south cats will be particularly for special needs cats and sick cats.
Last night I slept out on the porch with Luna on my belly for four hours. That is where she stays since she has to be separated from the other cats.

I got some one-on-one time with Pan after I put all the other foxes away for the night. I love how sweet and precious Pan looks. He always looks like he's smiling gently at you.

Another Mufasa update!!!

It's been about an hour since I posted the update and already Mufasa is causing some mischief.

He knows his medicine is in there. And he doesn't want it. 😂

Mufasa Fox update!!

A few weeks ago we made a post about Mufasa and how he might need a hind leg amputation due to how severely his leg was broken. Today we wanted to post an update that unfortunately, that was the case. We had been trying splints and everything else to help heal the poor boys leg but sadly nothing worked. His leg was so damaged that if we did not amputate he would have early onset arthritis as well as so much pain. After the most recent vet visit we all agreed this was the best option for him t...

Photography Practice 10

Howdy folks, Russ here.

I can't believe I'm already on #10. I've been getting a lot of practice in lately and having fun with it. I'm really trying to get better with focus, positioning the subject of the photo, and using naturally existing props. I think these photos encapsulate that pretty well.

SAF South updates

Just a few updates from us down in swampland!

Luna cat has settled in very well! She’s eating well and requesting lots of snuggle time from us. We have helped relieve her of her pain temporarily with meds and are hoping to get her problem teeth extracted soon.

Baby jackals make working... difficult.

These little guys are absolutely adorable but they have a tendency to latch on or demand cuddles. Which can make trying to clean their cages out very difficult.

Jackal puppies first pool!

Today being so hot we wanted to introduce the Black Backed Jackals to a pool to help them cool off. This was their first little bit with it, they all did step into it eventually and one even peed in the pool!

Luna

I’d like to introduce you to our new cat surrender, Luna! She is about seven years old and was diagnosed with FIV last year. She had stopped eating, lost weight and was showing signs of discomfort within her mouth. After taking her to our vet we discovered some great news and some bad news. The great news is that she is actually FIV negative (tested twice)!! The bad news is that she has stomatitis, which explains everything she’s experiencing. Howdy, Russ here.

I got rained out last week so I wasn't able to take any photos. Sorry about that.

I got a physical filter set for my camera and played around with that a bit this weekend. I think my next purchase will be a better lens. I would love a 600mm.

Three recent Birthdays!

The Florida kids celebrated three recent birthdays. Silky turned two, Decatur turned three and Dimika turned five! All received new toys and treats. All were not thrilled with their photo shoots lol

New fox surrendered!

Hey everyone! Kaytee here with a new fox we had surrendered today in Minnesota!

This handsome young man was found roaming around a small town up north and was brought to a wildlife rehabilitation center. While they noticed due to his champagne color he wasn't a wild fox, they still helped treat him immediately.

So sorry for the late post, I had an early doctors appointment today.

I decided to try some more edits. I'm actually quite proud of this set. I got some filters and new lenses so I'm excited for this weekend!

Jackie Long Tails

Jack jack is currently blowing out his coat! His whole tail is coming off in one long piece. Sadly he did not get to keep the extra long tail for long. Sophie was jealous and took it off of him right away. 😂
