From Sketch to Screen!

Hi team!

Creating a new Eddisode is a lot of work — everything has to be sketched out for reference before our animators can even think about beginning to animate it!

Here is a series of images from the final scene in Beaster Bunny which show the progression from reference sketch, to the final background. We hope you enjoy seeing sneak peaks of behind-the-scenes content!

We hoped you loved our latest Eddisode, Beaster Bunny, as much as we loved making it. It was loads of fun for our creative team coming up with different ideas for what the Beaster Bunny might look like!

Character Designs from Beaster Bunny

As you probably know by now, our next Eddisode is called Beaster Bunny and will be released in April. 

We can’t wait to share it with you, but until then here are a few of the character designs from the animatic! The artist team had a lot of fun creating these Easter-themed folks. The designs are subject to change - but which are your favourites?

Early Development / Storyboard Stills from Birds and Bees

We based the bicycle shot (my favourite part) on the similar shot from Sandwich. You can see the machine and tankers went through a lot of different designs... Ultimately the pod design was inspired by the machine in David Cronenberg's The Fly (1986). Here you can also see the early, simpler layout of the ad section. Since...

Designing Simone...

In this gallery you can see the evolution of the bird-bee monster Simone with sketches from various members of the artist team. We encouraged them all to have their own go at imagining it before Matt gave any feedback. In the last couple of images you can see she was first designed to stand on four legs, then we made her more... wobbly.

Early 'Birds and Bees' animatic!

Hey team! We're sharing this early animatic from the production of the new short, The Birds and The Bees.

One of the first things we locked in was the design of the creature, so you'll notice in some shots Simone is seen in full colour.

NEW VIDEO! 'The Birds and The Bees'

Just sharing some random doodles from the production server! Often the team work together over Discord, streaming their screens and giving advice/feedback. But also this usually leads to a lot of nonsense.

New Top Tier Changes!

Hey everyone! As we discussed in our AMA last month we will be retiring the old top tier from today. We're replacing it with the new and improved top tier!

They're basically the same except for one big detail- each month you stay a member you can request an additional art commission! Get one for your friend, your dad, your OC, your invisible friend, your dog... As long as you stay a member of that tier you can message us each month with a new request.

WIP Backgrounds for Valentine's Day Short

Hey Eddheads! Here are some stills from the upcoming Valentine's Day short we're working on... It's going to be short and silly, but we hope you enjoy it!

Collin is on backgrounds again, and these ones have been redlined by David to improve a few particular shapes. I've also included a sketch Matt drew in a production meeting last night to illustrate the camera movement for one shot.

Casting Call Working Script

For those of you who are curious about how a production evolves, here's the producer's copy of the script for Casting Call. Bing made notes on this, including giving each scene a number so we could keep track of progress better.

You might notice some scenes and lines are different to how they turned out, and the whole short is a completely different order. We did the re-ordering after animation, moving scenes around in the edit to get the best pace.

Casting Call transition exteriors

We had a lot of fun with the scene transitions in our latest short Casting Call. Originally we planned to have 'whip pans' or something similar between interior scenes, then someone suggested we do exterior shots of the building. The next natural step was to pastiche classic sitcoms like Friends or Seinfeld. And thus, Eddfeld was born.

Exclusive! Stills from the next short...

Hey y'all! We've almost finished a new short called Casting Call. We've been working on it since FS2 and we're really excited to share these stills with you.

The runtime on this one is about 05:40, so it's a 'long short' I guess. It also features a lot of cool voices and cameos.

**Fingers crossed** we finish production today and might be able to release it as early as tomorrow afternoon. Look out for it!
