And now for something completely different.

Despite making a show with cute, charming characters I actually get really bored drawing them now lol. It’s just been such a long time. I have plans for new prints for future conventions but also trying to figure out how to make it feel interesting to me. This is what most of my sketchbooks are filled with.

And I might have the opportunity to do my own illustration series soon. All ballpoint? All ballpoint.

I drew this back in season 1. I put together charts for EVERYONES teams for fun one day and have been meaning to draw or redraw them but haven’t had the chance boooo.

Anyway Gus’s team ended up bein my fav cause of Kecleon and Smeargle 😤

ASIAS concepts

Originally their Flyer Derby outfits were gonna be based off of soccer uniforms but the logic of that bugged me. It's their first time playing, how would they have access to uniforms? If this is named after Roller Derby, why are we going in a soccer direction? Anyway, I still like these outfits but glad we went in a "grungier" direction that got to reflect everyone's personalities a little more.

And no there's no symbolism in these numbers, they're random.

two jokes that made it into the show

I thought this would be fun to show today haha. Alador always had a hunched posture but there was one particular scene where a board artist drew him in a particularly rodent-like posture that gave us (and mostly me) a good chuckle and so RATADOR the rat palisman was born, though we only get a single unnerving glance at him in Clouds on the Horizon haha. Sometimes we can add jokes just for the crew, as a treat.

Life keeps changing! I'm bummed. At this time I can't be as involved in this patreon with the streams and CYOA thing as I was hoping, but I can and will continue to post personal drawings (Mon/Thurs!).

Sketchbook: Sphinxes and Hellboy studies

I have suddenly become busy again! (Before anyone assumes, it is not TOH-related.) This shouldn't affect my patreon posts moving forward but I hope to have a proper update soon! 

Unrelated: Trying to get back into composition studies again! These are WAY overdone, if I saw a student with something like this I'd tell them to simplify, but I'm trying to give myself some grace these days haha. Why Hellboy? Caaaauuuuse I just like watchin' it is all. 

Sketchbook - The Guardian

Unrelated to Rina and Skelly's story (which I'm still working on) - here's a little idea I had about a grizzled old guardian tasked with carrying the "chosen children" to some scary destination to fulfill some prophecy. Very LoTR - if the ring was a pair of cute little kittens. The guardian screws everything up to keep these 5 year olds from having to give up their childhood, deals with some unexpected consequences of that choice, and has to fix the fate of her kingdom.

More like a cryptid than a neighbor, Thomas-John can only be seen at night wearing his PJs and carrying different, threatening household items: A hammer, a crowbar, a metal bat, a kitchen knife... No one has ever seen him around school though word has it that he has perfect attendance.  

Another important character to the CYO adventure story.

Whats to come for patrons...

One extremely valuable lesson I learned from Owl House was problem solving. With the shortening came a tidal wave of story problems that needed solutions FAST. Even within writing a single episode something that may work in an outline may pose an unforeseeable issue in script or boards. That's just how it is sometimes! Of course in the case of a TV show that has already aired there's very little you can control, very little you can change, and NO moment where you're allowed to catch ...

Please don’t repost patreon drawings

Saw some people taking the sketches I made for patrons-only and putting them on social media. I understand the excitement around any owl house stuff but the whole point of this account is to give patrons exclusive content and the ability to request drawings during streams.

Not gonna hammer down on anyone specifically, but I will ban anyone I catch doing that. Just be kind and respectful, please.

Here's some Visdev I did for Carol and the End of the World on Netflix! If you haven't watched it yet please do yourself a favor and look it up!
