I caught the flu! I was hoping I’d be better today but I’m still having a real rough go of it.

Today and Monday there will be no art as I celebrate my version of Christmas (having a drink and falling asleep as demonstrated here by Ghost). But I’ll see you on Wednesday the 27th at 4pm PST for another patreon-only drawing livestream.

Progress vid for my most recent insta drawing. My least favorite part of anything I draw is is figuring out the colors but I still feel satisfied when I push myself to do it for small little things like this. You can see me fiddling around with different blending modes the entire time. I just keep looking for a "happy accident" and luckily I found one this time.

Here's another take on my Jewel Riders redesign, taking a crack at some of the other characters too. It's fun to redesign them to look their actual age, though I might've made their proportions a little younger here. Oops! Also, the character on the far right doesn't necessarily exist but I wanted someone to give Kale's hench-weasels a better life lmfao.

I'm turning 33!

I'm not having a hard time processing it, tbh. I don't feel like the time's flown by, I've definitely felt each and every year, haha. And I'm still young as hell and ready to do new things. I wish I could say something more profound about the past few years, about my experience showrunning, about a lot of things but my need for privacy keeps me from saying much. Holiday Print WIP

Here's a cropped preview of a limited streamily print I plan on releasing by Dec 1st. As patrons you'll get first access to it for 48 hrs before I release it into the wild so to speak. 

For clarity, $5 tier will get access for the first 24 hrs, then it'll be opened up to $1 for another 24 hrs, then it'll be up to the public. 

Also a fun excuse to draw the gang post-finale and post-holiday celebration. :)

SKETCHBOOK - People watching

People sketching. First few with the blue bgs are based on people I saw at a tattoo convention (hense some unfinished scribbles), the redhead and mustachio'd man are from a short story I wrote about an art heist. I became briefly fixated on museum thefts and the use of fine art as currency instead of something to be enjoyed by the masses. I'd love to learn more and revisit the story someday.

SKETCHBOOK: Monsters from the vault

I love drawing monsters. It started with making my own Pokemon, then I went through a dragon phase, a couple dinosaur phases, and then a big body horror phase in the past four years. I have to admit, it's hard to keep up because I find myself repeating shapes and once a subject becomes familiar I become anxious to learn something new. An Undead Detective

I once had a dream of meeting a detective in a maze of underground tunnels. She had the head of a half-decomposed cat skull and the body of Columbo. She was hired by a group of people who established a township in the tunnels to investigate a missing persons case. Their religious leader found a way out of the tunnels but was, suspiciously, unable to find their way back to tell the rest of the town. Extra - Progress Video!

A much longer version of the process video I uploaded on instagram, which was only 16 seconds.

I tend to draw on very few layers. Sketch, linework, flat colors, shadow layer and SOMETIMES highlights + extra. Same if it had a background. But that does mean things get... Messy haha.

The only sketch I did of the whole gang! Sometimes I just like bunching characters together to see how they look in the same space.

Sylvia sketches

I used Sylvia as a base here for some experiments. I wanted to fuck with powers coming from an external "suit" ill-fitted to the human form, destroys your body if used consistently. These aren't successful imho but I like how some of them turned out. These also don't really have a relation with the story I was working with, I just liked drawing Syl haha.
